Guest guest
Hi Dolores, I know you are getting alot of ideas to help with your transportation worries. One thing I didn't see mentioned is calling the " Office of Aging " in your county. I thought at one time you mentioned that you have some kind of contact with them. I know where I live they provide transportation to doctors appointments. They stay with you and wait. Also in some states maybe all of them they also offer a program called " Independence Waiver Program " It helps people who are disabled, elderly, need nursing help, etc. It is based on your yearly income. They will come to your home, evaluate you and your needs and then they will decide if you qualify for the program. The program offers alot like: cleaning of the home, vacuuming, doing dishes, cleaning bathrooms, wash, take you to your doctors appts., fix up your home if it needs things like new windows, a new walk in shower for those who can't get in or out of a bath tub, ramps for your scooter or wheelchair so you can get in and out of your home and help with making your home handicap accessible. This is a great program. I am sure you would qualify. It sure sounds like you could use this program. I would think that the " Office of Aging " or your Medicare Office would have their phone number if you can't find it in the Government (Blue Pages) Section of your phone book. Please give them a try. It is also available to people who want to stay in there own homes and don't want to go to a nursing home or a rehabilitation home. I know someone who needed a wheelchair and couldn't afford one and they paid for one for the guy. And another friend of ours got one of those " lift chairs " that lifts the person up into a standing position. So please check this program out. It will be well worth your time and energy. Hope this helps Hugs, Ann-Marie -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Guest guest
Hi Dolores, The " Independence Waiver Program " has nothing to do with the Health Dept. or anyone that you already have coming to your home to care for you. They are a separate Program all together. The reason I mentioned the " Office of Aging " was only for you to see if they had a phone number for the Independence Waiver Program in case you couldn't find it in the phone book. No, I didn't hear or read about the young man who died b/c of car surfing. Children play and do stupid things and because of it one is dead and one will be in jail (most likely). How old where they? I am sorry to hear that your Cardiologists son was killed while car surfing. And sorry about your leaky heart valves, do they know how bad they are? What is the plan they have for you? Yes, the London bombings are barbaric and horrendous. My heart goes out to all of those that were touched by this terrorist attack. So many people killed, injured, families torn apart, loved ones and friends gone or injured. It is so un-necessary. I, too have prayed for everyone in England even those who weren't directly touched by the attack. We have friends in London, and thankfully they weren't on the mass transportation today.
