Guest guest
>>We are trying to decide whether to start our 6 year old son with RSS on Growth Hormone. What have been your experiences? We started Greg on GHT in August 2002, when he had just turned 4. Positives: He eats now! Height increase from 4th centile to just below 50th centile. Hypoglycaemic issues are much reduced. Negatives: Having to give a nightly injection, which he still doesn't like/accept (we use a needle free device). Having to ensure we don't run out! (Getting the drugs requires 2 trips to the doctors, a phone call to the pharmacy to order the drugs, and a trip to pick them up) Having to keep the drugs cold when travelling. Not having anybody else (e.g. grandparents) who can/will give injections if for any reason we can't be there to do it. I think you will agree that the positives win, as the negative are all really trivial in comparison :-) Hope this helps, Craig.
