Guest guest
Oh, Jen.. I'm so sorry you've got this worry. Our shoulders are always here for you.. I know you are concerned, especially given her past experience.. it makes sense that you'd be extra watchful and worried.. I would be too. I guess I would advise what you are already doing .. to keep a careful eye on it, hoping that it doesn't get worse and might resolve and go away. Maybe it is a fleeting thing.. related to a growth spurt? I know I've occasionally noticed things that worry me, which later seems to have gone away with time. It's encouraging that when you check her outward motion and dorsiflexion that they are still good. If you do get to the point of sending off some pictures.. I wonder if you could instead send some video .. since it might not be apparent in a still picture. Hang in there.. the worry WILL stop some day! Write any time you need to.. and Claire > As most of you may remember, Livie is still wearing her brace 16 hours a day at 3 years and 4 month old because she had a relapse. She relapsed because she was removed from the brace altogether at 1.5 years old due to loose ligaments. She was recasted at 2.5 years old. Dr. Ponseti was able to recorrect her foot, but not to the degree that it was before. He seemed concerned after the cast that she might eventually need to have the ATTT surgery. At our 6 month follow-up after the cast, he was pleased with her correction and didn't mention again the ATTT. We are scheduled to go back to see him in May. > > Within the last few weeks I have noticed Livie pointing her foot in occasionally when she is running or walking. Guest guest
Aw you poor thing. Not knowing is the worst but isn't it best to err on the side of caution? Could you video it or something and send that to him? As far as a day when you stop worrying.....eventually it 'll come. I remember the days of obcessing over 's feet. One day it suddenly occured to me I hadn't thought about them in a few days. I had that scare a while back where one night they suddenly hurt so bad he was whithering and crying - but that appears to have been a very isolated case for an unknown reason. hang in there, we have plenty of shoulders to go around. s. Guest guest
Thanks ee! I already thought of sending a video, but it happens so seldom that I would probably have to video for days on end to actually catch her doing it! I probably should do it anyway since Dr. Posneti would be able to see things that I may not be seeing. Thanks for the shoulder. Guest guest
Thanks , If it becomes worrisome enough that I feel a call to Dr. Ponseti is warranted then I will probably send a video. Like I said to ee, at this point I would probably have to video for days on end to catch her doing it, but your point is well taken that he would be able to see things that are not so apparent to me. Thanks again for the shoulder! Jen & Livie Re: Getting kind of worried Oh, Jen.. I'm so sorry you've got this worry. Our shoulders are always here for you.. Guest guest
LOL!! I needed that laugh!! I'm not losing sleep over it yet. More just frustrated right now. Everybody else in our lives thinks I'm crazy and trying to see problems where there are none. I think I'll be dusting off the video camera here in the next few days and shooting some film. If it turns out to be nothing then I at least have some much needed video of my baby growing up! Guest guest
OK so you strap the camera to a stick projecting from her hip, pointed downwards at her foot so it catches ever step she makes..... Ya well, I didn't think it was much of an idea either. But with her history ya know, better safe than sorry if at all possible. Try to get some sleep tonight. s. Guest guest
Trust your instincts !! As her parent you know your child best. I have been living with the " is his foot okay? " syndrome for years now. Henry is 3 and I was right to worry as he is now suffering a relapse in his right foot and the left is not quite right so he will definately be having an ATTT on his right foot and we will have to wait and see with the left. so I was not wrong and even if there is nothing wrong it is better to be safe and get it checked - so really you have nothing to loose except peace of mind! And everything to gain! Good Luck and I hope all goes well.
