Guest guest
depending on what you are having done and why insurance usually covers a second opinion and will offer you some peace of mind. as far as a code goes it usually only covers after the procedure is done. when you get a second opinion don't tell him/her what the other surgeon plans and just compare. ask lots of questions and get them to tell you what to expect and the possible complications and their experience with each. happy hunting/eric > > my surgery is scheduled for Nov 8th, I was thinking about consulting > with another surgeon for a second opinion on my procedure. Guest guest
I found this problem too. I think I would get a third opinion if I were you. Is that possible? Sue DWILZEN wrote: Well, now I am completely confused on what to do. I just returned from another surgeon today for a second opinion and he told me he would not have the surgery if he were me. I am scheduled for surgery for lower advancement on Nov 8th. Now not sure what to do. He recommended that since my retrognathia is not that bad I should just have implants to fill the spaces in my mouth and leave it at that. His exact words were " there is no way on gods green earth would I have that surgery " I asked him for his honest opinion and I got it. Now what???? Guest guest
wow! i'm not surprised that another surgeon is telling you not to have the surgery... you've only got 4mm overjet! i'd go back to your ortho and discuss what this surgeon has told you... if your ortho does not agree and still pushes u towards, i ahve to question your ortho's integrity... these medical professionals should support your needs within the boundries of medicine... good luck on what ever path you take! > > Well, now I am completely confused on what to do. Guest guest
any time a doctor recommends not having surgery and as adamately as he did i would take it to heart. he sounds like he has a better plan and less costly and painful. if you just want a chin yu might consider opting for genioplasty instead. it worked for me.. good luck/eric > > Well, now I am completely confused on what to do. Guest guest
wonderful news, .. cheers to you for 'taking the leap' and going to another doctor. We did the same.. switched after 9 casts and stalled progress. We had gone through a tenotomy, too early. You are very smart to switch before that was done. I have heard good things about Dr. Feldman. Have you seen the Cotton family website? it has many pictures, of a baby treated by him, if you haven't seen it .. it's one of the testimonials listed at Dr. Ponseti's Virtual Hospital site: http://members.aol.com/vc11/ please keep us posted.. we'll be eager to hear how this cast does! take care,
Guest guest
I must admit, we were holding our breaths as we took this leap. It's such a HUGE responsibility to make the right decison for your child's well-being and this has weighed heavily on us. It's so hard. We are new parents and we are SOOOO in love with our son! He is just the cutest! And when he smiles and giggles and coos, it just makes our life so much more complete. So, I've been so devastated that he's had to go through any discomfort--and the thought that we may have made matters worse by not having gone for a second opinion sooner.... But like you said at least we didn't wait until after the tenotomy...Actually, while we were in the waiting room, we met another couple whose son also had clubfoot and they were raving about Dr. Feldman. The father was a neurosurgeon, so we figured if this neurosurgeon is bringing his child to Dr. Feldman for treatment, he must be good. And, yes, I had seen little 's website that you mentioned--it also was a factor in our decision to see and now continue with Dr. Feldman. I am so nervous to see 's foot next week, but I think it will look better and be okay.... and Claire atemc@...> wrote: wonderful news, .. cheers to you for 'taking the leap' and going to another doctor. Guest guest
, Congratulations for taking that big step! It is difficult enough for new parents to know what to do but doubly so when you have to worry about whether or not to trust your doctor. Good luck w/ the new cast, I'm sure his foot will be looking great in no time. allison > > wonderful news, .. cheers to you for 'taking the leap' and going > to another doctor.
