Guest guest
Mark, I must say, your comment " But when I take that med...I could go out to my car, remove my battery and remove the top and drink the battery acid and probably would be just fine " should be marketed to the pharmaceutical company. It must be quite effective! I take Aciphex for my esophageal reflux due to Pancreatitis. Since a lot of it is brought on by my diet, and I avoid gastric distressing foods , so if I miss a dose, I don't immediately become symptomatic. But after a couple of days, my water begins to turn caustic, also. Karyn Karyn E. , RN Founder / Executive Director Pancreatitis Association International Corp. Guest guest
Hi Robin, Yes I used Prilosec in the past and by now I'm on Zantac. Those drugs are used to reduce the stomach acid, reflux for example. Some people due poor digestion also develops more acidity problems. In my case I have reflux due hiatal hernia and a weak LES (valve). Sadly my fundo surgery to correct this problem did not work, and I'm still on meds. Prilosec it's a kind of PPI and uses to be more effective than H2 blocker (ranitidine). By the way I had troubles with my liver (enlargement) using PPI's. Some doctors also use to prescribe anti-acids to make the oral enzymes more effectives, to protect the enzymes from the stomach acid contents that can destroy them. Talk with you doc before to not use it anymore. All the best, Liane you wrote: I was wondering if many other people with cp take prilosec? The doctor who did my ERCP advised me to take it, which was a year ago. I've missed days taking it along the way, and never felt any different. But maybe it's doing stuff that I can't notice. Any thoughts? Thanks. Robin
Guest guest
Aali, I take Prevacid (similar to Prilosec) about 1-2 times per week. I had extreme GERD pre-surgery and was relieved of all symptoms immediately after surgery... until now. For the past month these babies have been putting quite a bit of pressure on my pouch and the acid reflux has returned, albiet slightly. My OBGyn feels it ok to continue to take stomach medications through pregnancy. Toi > Hi > > My surgeon gave me prilosec and I really really need to take it but > is it ok?
