Guest guest
Absolutely, you can ask. I trusted my son's pediatrian who recommended an orthopedic (sorry my spelling sucks) doctor who swore he could fix club feet with no problem. Six months and about 250 castings later.....my son was still hobbling around on his outer ankles instead of the bottoms of his feet. Doc recommended AFO's and physical therapy. Eighteen months of that, (at about $700 a pop for the AFO's he kept out growing!) still hobbling around in pain on twisted up feet......by now was about 21 months old I think and the ortho decided to do major reconstructive surgery. That just didn't feel right to me - I couldn't make myself agree to it. Little by little I began searching and miraculiously found this board only a couple months after it had been formed! The photos and testimonials convinced me to email photos of 's feet to Dr. Ponseti. Ponseti called me at home and said to come right away so I booked an Angel Flight. Ponseti's clinic attempted to recast for several months, (lugging a large 2 year old in casts was fun! haha) we attempted the DBB, it chewed his feet in to hamburger and caused a serious infection....but in the end the fact was he was really too far gone to rescue non-surgically by that age so they did that ATTT operation. Not as bad as the ortho wanted to do, granted, but it wasn't exactly a complete success either. His feet are still very stiff, he has serious in-toeing; he cannot squat down, nor bend at the waist all the way to the ground because his ankles won't flex enough. He still sufferes pain on occasion if he's on his feet too much, he has balance issues cuz he can't really stand on one foot, he can't jump much due to stiffness.... Not as bad as some stories out there, I realize....but not nearly as good as others either, including his baby brothers. went through 2 1/2 years of misery to get what he ended up with. Everett went through 5 weeks of casting and so far 15 months of the DBB to have perfect feet. He can squat, bend, run, his feet have no issues (knock on wood). Any other questions you have you're welcome to ask. s. How many hours a day-really? > > > > > > Hello, I'm new to this group. Guest guest
awww... and I thought you hung around because you liked the company here :~} I put pictures of Darbi in the Tips file where I have my signature at the bottom of the introduction. I have one of her face and one of her feet. I would say pictures of your boys would be a great thing. Let me know when you've got it all worked up and we can add it to the files section on CFPics. Guest guest
I'm sorry ee, I hope I didn't offend you. I really didn't intend to. And I am sorry about 's horrible feet. Everytime I read about his story it breaks my heart. Shook Retail Operations Manager/Baking Instructor Vie de France Yamazaki, Inc. 2070 Chain Bridge Rd.
