Hi all

I don't know if you guys all know but I am making a leaflet about myself being

an RSS adult and going to the convention. i was wondering if anyone of you

parents might email me with a quote as I would like to know whether you feel as

parents it is beneficial for you to meet RSS adults. I would like to include

any comments on this topic in my leaflet so if any one could email me in the

next day or so that would be brilliant

Kim - Please see the two separate notes below that came from

parents after the convention last year:

1) From the RSS MAGIC Newsletter:

* At this year's convention, we had 8 adults with RSS and 6

teenagers with RSS attend our first-ever Adult/Teen Gathering.

Everyone agrees it was a " magical " weekend. And on Saturday

morning, many of the RSS adults conquered nervousness and fear and

sat on a panel, and answered questions from the RSS parents in the

audience. We can personally tell you that many parents shed tears

in the audience at the incredible words of wisdom that were spoken

by the panelists. We parents learned from these successful adults

that that as an adult, RSS simply explains their short stature, but

does not represent their life.

2) From Carmen, Storm's Mom, after last year's convention:

* The biggest thing about this year for me was to do just this when

I saw the incredible RSS adults at the convention this year. I

breathed that sign of relief! RSS is NOT their life! They do not

revolve around their medical or stature issues. They just live life

to the fullest! What a blessing to my heart to meet these

incredible affected, yet unaffected adults! This year I learned

that our lives do not have to, nor do they need to revolve around

RSS. It is only one part of our lives, and there are so many other

wonderful parts. I am so thankful that we could be a part of this

RSS community, and meet the people we have met!

I hope that this helps you. As a separate note, I would say that

for many parents of younger RSS children, our lives are literally

consumed with day-to-day decisions and tasks -- almost

overwhelming. We barely have time to breathe. It is incredibly

refreshing and energizing to meet RSS adults and literally breathe a

sigh of relief .... our children ARE going to be just fine. It may

not seem like that right now, when they are young, but we will get

through it, and things will turn out just fine. Our children may be

shorter than the average adult, but they will be just fine.
