It's like he has a built in antenna and can tell > just by looking at it that it's gfcf. , We're relatively new to the diet (2 months) and my son is just now starting to eat the " good stuff " . For a while, he ate nothing but gfcf hot dogs (Ball Park or Meyer beef), Ruffles potato chips, Tostitos, and popcorn. I could also get him to drink a fruit smoothie each day (frozen mixed berries, 1/2 banana, calcium OJ, and some rice milk) which I mixed most of his supplements in. Now, he'll eat chicken, tacos (with grated carrots for " cheese " ), roast beef, ham, peanut butter on gfcf crackers, home fries, corn pops cereal, pears, grapes, raisins, etc. Surely some of the things your son used to eat are gfcf already (even if it's just the junk food!) A friend who has been on the diet over a year pointed out " What's the harm in letting him eat junk for a week if he's taking his vitamins? " I followed her advice, then starting putting the good food back, and I am thrilled with Brett's expanded food choices. Good luck- it's hard work, but well worth the effort! Guest guest
I have read that studies show that one of the things that asd kids have in common with nt kids is that they will not intentionally starve themselves. However, (just like nt kids) they have the uncanny knack of being able to hold out longer than Mom and Dad. I guess the old adage, " He'll eat when he's hungry. " holds true. Guest guest
It took me a good 6 months to be able to know what I was doing with this diet and to expirement. I know how to get foods and sweets to come out right now but when I first started the food I made was disgusting, no wonder why the poor kid wouldn't eat. He'll come around and the longer you are on the diet the more you learn and you'll be baking all the time right along with the rest of us.
