Guest guest
My son's preipheral vision and most other visual stims stopped almost immediately after the developmental optomitrist (diagnosed a consticted visual field and loss of depth perception) gave us a prescription for glasses with prism lenses. His visual acuity was fine (20/20 and 20/25) so I thought he would not even keep his glasses on... From the beginning, he wore them about 90% of the time and stopped most stimming. He says that he sees better. We plan to have a scotopic screening in a few months to see if Irlen lenses/overlays will help ease his visual tracking during reading (so the words don't " jump " all over the page). Although my son has sensory issues and is receiving sensory integration therapy, I never would have thought that visual stims (that he has had for about 5 1/2 years) would disappear over night with glasses. Prior to the glasses, this was his major source of stims, and was not really lessened by anything else we tried. Maybe this is something to look at with your child?
