Guest guest
Hi everyone... I am writing because I am worried about my son who's 4. We have been on this diet-eliminating glutin, casien, and preservatives and colorings, for about amost 2 months....When we started the diet we noticed a big improvement within the first 3 days, he was connected, talking more, ears clear, and happy..He then went through the withdrawal(actually picking through the garbage looking for " his " food). He has been eating rice puff cereal(nothing but brown rice), chicken(no additives or anything bad), and orgainic potatoes..We tried introducing rice pasta w/ ok sauce, fruits and veggies but we seen a difference. I took him off the phenol foods, and the salisalytes(spell??). I am seeing my son now regress and I am very worried..He has had a few infractions(couple of sips of soda, and few bites of bread)but 2 weeks before he got them he was still regressing..He is stimming so much more, visual and vocal, hes becomming more agressive(my son was not agressive before this-hitting and biting people-not often but enough)hes also got that fog back and his eyes go off almost like hes on this high.. The other thing that he is doing is he will have these laughing bouts for no reason and hes got a mild rash on his butt-raised small not all the same size pink bumps). I also don't like how addicted hes gotten to the rice puffs, he inhales these and asks for them all day long.. My questions are first do you have any suggestions about what else this could be??Hes not on any other foods that I know of that could be a problem, (again-rice puffs, organic potatoes, olive oil, sea salt, pear juice and chicken, sometimes turkey or beef(both pure). Could he be allergic to rice??or developed an allergy to rice?? The other question is I really would like to put him on Nystatin.. The laughter and the rash have been talked about often on my journey through the yeast research..Has anyone done this that can offer me any do's, don'ts, side affects, or even just good/bad??? I am sorry this is so long, I just am going out of my mind seeing him like this..I know he is having some kind of reaction to something, this is not my son..Please let me know what you think, my heart is sick worrying about what is affecting him....Thanks!!!--Jeanine email: jconklin24@... _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Guest guest
Terry, He has been on the diet for two years. He also doesn't have eggs, honey, colorings, peanuts, chocolate, corn and many other things. I give him pro-bio and TMG. He has always been a roller coaster in his progress. Lately he is not as focused and seems to be in his own world allot more. His eyes are red. One of them the lower lid is swollen and puffy. This weekend he developed a rash all over and can't stop scratching. This morning he had diarrhea. I am not sure if it is something he is eating or environmental. He has been craving his rice/soy milk all day. I want to remove soy but am looking for rice milk that doesn't have vitamin A palmitate. I am trying to figure out what is going on and in the mean while my heart is breaking for him. Thanks for your concerns. Ellie Re: Advise Please..New and nervous Ellie How llong has your son been on the diet? Could he be going through withdrawals? I also don't like how addicted hes gotten to the rice >puffs, he inhales these and asks for them all day long.. Jeanne, I have found that my daughter does similar " regressions " , for a couple of reasons. One is yeast overgrowth, coupled with an increase in Colstridia dificile bacteria overgrowth which takes place as the yeast dies-off and allows room for the Clostridium to move in. It's a nasty aneorobic bacteria which puts of neurotoxic elements during its life-cycle. The best way to treat is with probiotics, lots of them, and lots of fresh, healthy foods high in fiber, like celery, carrots, etc. so the intestinal tract is getting cleaned out more efficiently and fecal matter doesn't have time to sit in there forever. It is also possible, if the yeast overgrowth-Clostidium cycle is what is happening, that the puffed rice is his source of sugar to feed the yeast. Puffed rice will break down pretty quickly in the system and convert to sugar. The other factor could be an uncovering of other food intolerances. It sounds like your little guy is still very self-limiting in his diet. Try to introduce new foods and get rid of the ones he is stuck on, especially the puffed rice. Yes, he could have a problem with rice as an allergen. Try puffed millet or puffed corn as a replacer and see what he does. Marina
Guest guest
Ellie, can your son have almond milk like Blue Diamond Almond Breeze? Or is he off potatoes. There is DariFree nondairy milk. I'm going through this at the moment. I get it from a particular type of mold that grows on food (no one has traced the exact type yet). It is miserable, and often includes painful stomach aches. I use dye-free benedryl, double dose, which does knock me out, but it's very effective. The diarrhea stops when the system is cleared of the offending food. If your son is having a similar reaction, look back over what he's eaten - any leftovers, slightly old bread, candy starting to go stale? (My latest attack came from a nestle crunch bar - that will teach me to go off the diet!)
