Guest guest
All I am going to say is " THANK GOD " that kid is okay! Give him a big hug for us and wish him a Happy Birthday! I am sure you will have your husband out and about tomorrow searching for that star wars figure for Merek. Mommy to (12-17-98) and Christian (1-30-04) LCF - DBB (nights only) Merek Update Well, Maki is home. They let him go yesterday morning and we spent the afternoon out looking for Anakin Star Wars figures (no luck), getting prescriptions and picking up the rest of the brood. He woke with a 102 fever this am, but Darbi also has a fever so baring any inflammation, signs of infection in his throat or non-Maki like behavior he's ok (according to the ENT I talked to this am). He and Kento are out with Daddy for his birthday, a little lake fishing and then we're all going out for birthday dinner. He can't eat crunchy foods well, but other than that he seems fine. My boy managed to make it to 5 years old! Whoohoo! Thanks so much for all the well wishes and hugs. I'm still a little weirded out about all of this, but it's getting better every minute he acts like himself light saber fighting with Kento and generally being his normal Maki self. I have found myself not enjoying seeing the slide in the back yard, it conjures up all kinds of uncomfortable images and feelings but I'm sure I'll get over it. When asked if he wanted to play with sticks... he belted out a resounding NO! And then picked up some nice safe tiny twigs to make miniature fishing poles with :~} Kori

Guest guest
Kori and family-- *sigh* of relief. We are so glad to have such a good report. Send some of those positive thoughts up to my parents. About the same time Merek had his incident, my Dad sliced off the tip of his thumb on the lift-gate of his delivery truck... 6 hours of surgery later, it is reattached, but they still have to wait to see whether it'll take. He's in the hospital for at least a week and on a lot of morphine. These kind of things happen to people you know. Who woulda thunk it. Hannah asks that you say hi to Merek for her. And happy birthday. Be well, Naomi The Family Naomi Hannah(02/21/01) Jonah(06/20/03, bilateral clubfoot, FAB 14/7) frogabog frogabog@...> wrote: Well, Maki is home. Guest guest
Kori, Glad to hear you guys pulled through with little to no damage (physical damage anyway.) He may have a phobia of large sticks for the rest of his life. And there's nothing wrong with that! Welcome home Maki! Guest guest
Oh man Naomi! Not cool. Does your dad live close to you? I hope the re-attachment works, he's got to be in some pretty bad pain though. When will they know if it took? Dads... Sometimes I wonder about them... We've BTDT too, my dad has taken the tips of his fingers off at LEAST 3 times since I've been alive, and once before I was born. Once with a hedge trimmer, once in a wood planer (that one broke his hands all up), and once in another kind of wood working tool... and the first time when he worked in the cannery as a teenager. I swear, my dad should not be allowed to have hands, he can't take care of them! His fingers are shorter than they used to be, that's for sure! That must have been quite the re-attachment surgery, 6 hours... at least it was available to try to re-attach. hugs and happy dad thumb thoughts, Kori At 11:11 PM 3/5/2005, you wrote: >Kori and family-- > >*sigh* of relief. Guest guest
Kori, I'm so glad he is okay. I have been so behind in reading -- I've been sick (flu, strep & sinus infection all in one) since Wednesday, I just now read your post about Merek. My heart just jumped up in my throat when I read it. Wow, I can't even imagine -- I freak out if I even think about something like that happening to my kids. I am so glad you guys were able to have a nice birthday for him even w/ all the trauma, knowing my family if anything ever happened they would be all over me stressing me to the max! My thoughts are still with you for his speedy FULL recovery and I hope no more crazy stunts until he's at least 18! Hugs, > Well, Maki is home.
