Guest guest
Hi , You have just described my middle-schooler to a tee! LOL Kaity is 14, going on 21, and I, for one, cannot wait for the middle school years to end! This is my youngest child, and the last one to have to go through this part of life, thank goodness. Personally, I think middle school kids HAVE to find something " wrong " with each other, as a way to find their place in the pack. With my third child it was her weight, she's on the high end. With Kaity, it's her weight! She's on the low end! (Everyone accuses her of being anorexic!! LOL) Tell Colby that things do get better during the high school years, when the kids have basically found a group that accepts them for what they are (the results of the middle school process). It helps if they find interests that they have in common with others, like chess club, band, choir, drama, etc.... OH! And I wanted to say, that my kids are all affectionate, and I love it! They have never had a problem with giving me a hug, or telling me that they love me, in public. Other parents have asked how I did that, and I tell them that I've done nothing. That's just how our family is. Hang in there. The rocky " middle-school " road does smooth out!
