Is he off his rocker to expect me to eat that much? --------------------------------- How do you get int 2200 calories a day???? I am finally up to about 1500-1600 ONLY because I am eating alot of cheese and dense breads... Still... it is hard for me... But I only had RNY 5 months ago... but still... My OB had RNY last year... and at this point she is just pushing the vits and suggests a goal of 1500 calories.. .. so I am not deprived. - Mommy to: Noah - 10/14/02 - 31 weeker - 3lbs 11 oz edd November 18th http://www.love-my-kids.com
Guest guest
> My doctor has me on a 2200 a day colorie diet, My care provider never had me on any amount of calories a day...in fact, she/they rarely even weighed me. They were much more interested in what I was eating and how much and making sure that I was eating healthy foods and not spilling ketones than they were what a scale said or did... did I mention that I LOVED my care providers? =) Soderblom CCCE CD(DONA) CLD Student Midwife - Mesa, AZ CAPPA Board of Directors Doula/CBE/Pregnancy/Birth Photography Owner: Birth Story Diaries - real births, real photos http://www.birthdiaries.com Owner: SouthwestDoulas.com

I got pregnant 5 months postop...and I'd guess that I probably ate 2200 calories a day EASILY... partially by NOT eating dense bread (fills you up too easily) or things like cheese. The trick is because we don't have a pyloric valve anymore, our stomachs empty very very quickly....so we can take advantage of that. Eat things first that go through quickly (like yogurt, liquids, soups, etc)...followed by things that don't (like your cheeses, meats, breads..anything that is going to get 'caught' into the pouch instead of going straight through)... on top of doing that..you eat every 1.5-2 hours. Our pouches empty in 30-45 minutes, so you can eat a " full meal " every hour and a half or so....so you just eat much more frequently. (as well as any pregnant woman SHOULD!) Oh...and I had lost half of my excess weight when I got pregnant (had lost 100 pounds). lost the other 100 pounds after he was born...no problem. =) Soderblom CCCE CD(DONA) CLD Student Midwife - Mesa, AZ CAPPA Board of Directors Doula/CBE/Pregnancy/Birth Photography Owner: Birth Story Diaries - real births, real photos http://www.birthdiaries.com Owner: SouthwestDoulas.com
Guest guest
I got pregnany 5.5 months out from surgery and that is exactly how my nutritionist has me eating. I still need to loose another 50lbs so it is encouraging to know you were able to finish loosing the weight afterward. I am afraid that since I am in the habit of eating this way and so often that the habit will be hard to break. I am also VERY hungry if I go too long with out eating where before conception I never felt (or rarely) real hunger and ate at meal times to get all of my nutrition in. Did you loose while pregnant?or did all of the other 100 come after givuing birth? Just curious on how I should continue the weight loss after. - Diane > The trick is because we don't have a pyloric valve > anymore, our stomachs empty very very quickly....so we > can take advantage of that. For me...I lost 15 pounds the first trimester, then stayed the exact same weight the remainder of the pregnancy (bouncing around the same 3 pounds the until delivery). After I had him, of course I lost a lot in the first 2 weeks (baby, placenta, fluids, etc etc)....but then the rest came off in the next 6 months or so until I hit goal weight. I was determined not to TRY to lose weight for 6 months after pregnancy because of nursing...instead, I focused on eating healthy choices in good amounts (just like when pregnant) and not snacking as much as I was. You have to remember that when you're pregnant of course you're worried about nutrition because you have a baby growing that's getting 100% of their nutrition from you! But what you have to keep in mind is that when nursing, you have an even BIGGER baby that's still getting 100% of their nutrition from you! So I ate similar to what I did when pregnant - and it just kind of came off. So long as I work on healthy foods...choosing foods that are healthy and not sweet or high fat or things like that, it wasn't that difficult...which was very nice! =) good luck to you!! (as a side note: I was terrified while pregnant that I wouldn't lose it, too....I think that's totally normal..) Guest guest
Wow ! Sounds like you did really well for yourself! I am trying to make healthy choices, but occasionally that sugar bug gets the best of me, and I seem to crave the " evil " white bread, as someone earlier described it. LOL...I am still trying though, and hopefully my baby will get everything he/she needs, without me gaining too much weight. I am already starting to wear maternity pants and shorts because the bottom of my belly is poking way out, but I also think that has something to do with the fact that this is my 4th, and my muscle tone isn't what it used to be When did everyone else start to wear maternity clothes? I'm only 15 weeks, but feel like I'm 6 months along! Pam
Guest guest
OHHHHHHH I know what you mean!! I have been having Really low blood sugar and have been on bedrest since 11 weeks out!! I went to a nutritionist about a month ago and she told me that I needed to have 2200 calories a day!! I am eating about every 2 hrs as it is and at the most only get in 1500 calories. I told her that if she allowed me to eat at mcdonalds every meal that I would be sure to get in that much!! She wasnt amused!! She made me like a sample meal plan and Knows that I had WLS. Breakfast alone takes me over an hour to eat, and that is just 2 eggs a banana and a slice of bread!! My doc told me to do the best I can and just eat as much as I can and when I am hungry!! I still only get in between 1200 and 1500 calories a day but I have changed my diet and my blood sugar has gone up so something is working!! Good luck to you I know this overwhelmed me when I was told 2200 calories!! I guess we just have to do what we can and pray for the best!!
