Guest guest
The doc gave me the meter to start kekeping a chart and when i woke up it was 78, I had coffee then got the kids off to school and fixed me and Madison some eggs, ect. Well I ate a total of 2 small raisin toast with butter, 3 little maple flavored sausauge links and maybe 2 bites of eggs, didn't really want them today and another coffee to wash it all down. they wanted me to test in an hour after I ate and did and I am only 64. GEEZZZZZ, what is with these low numbers I am having. Before surgery when I ahd to test with the boys I would be at least over 100 when I retested. is this why I feel ssooo chitty most of the time and tired, from the low sugars. What will this mean for the baby? I know had low blood sugars when I was gestational diabetic with his pregnancy will this one have the opposite. Any info is appreciated, I don;t know alot about this subject. God Bless, Robin, NorthEastern, NY Age- 41 EDD- July 27th, 2004 IT'S A BOY!!!!!! Guest guest
Robin, I have been on bedrest due to low blood sugars since my 11th week. I was in the same boat you are although mine would drop to the high 30s to low 40s.. My ob has me testing 4 times a day and they havent changed much. He had me eating protein protein protein although after going to a dietician I found out that although Protein is very important to keep your blood sugars in a higher range you actually need a well balanced diet to get them higher and the protein to keep them high!! I wasnt eating hardly any carbs and just mainly making sure I got in the protein protein protein. Well since my visit to the dietician I have actually seen my blod sugars go up and stay around the 90s instead of shooting up then plumiting again!! I reasearched low blood sugars online or hypoglocemia during pregnancy and everything I seem to find doesnt really help much!! I am just at the point now where I just know when its time to stop doing what I am doing and thats that. I am not able to do anything without feeling like total and complete crap!! Even a walk through the grocery store leaves my blood sugars way below 50 and I have to have something with sugar then follow with protein to spike my blood sugar and then keep it high!! It is the most horrible feeling when your blood sugar crashes!! From what my OB has told me there is nothing to worry about in regaurds to the baby. She is getting all the nutrients that she needs and is basically leaving me what is left. She is growing like a weed and is very healthy!! They are more worried about me since very low blood sugars can cause fainting spells..and if they go low enough can put me in a coma!! Basically I am just suppose to take it easy and make sure my blood sugars stay up!! I am really sorry you are having to go through this!! It is not fun!! The one thing I recommend is to keep some peanutbutter crackers with you.. They are the only thing that helps when my sugar crashes!! I may have a sip or two of sprite then eat a cracker or two and I feel much better. I hope that helped a little bit!! EDD 8/17/
