I am unable to take iron as my bone marrow has excessive stores and

won't be released if I'm taking extra iron. This was determined by a

bone marrow aspiration.

I haven't heard that all with mito should avoid it, but that might

mean that I didn't pay attention to it because I can't take it.

That might be a good question to " ask the mito doc " on the umdf web site.

Caitlin,

In addition, our brother, who is assumed to have mito, doesn't store

enough iron. Of course, he has a HORRIBLE diet, so I suspect it has a

lot to do with that also. I was told to get just enough to keep my RBC

at a decent level, but not higher. Where my multi with iron is suppose

to be taken 2 a day, I only take the one with iron, 1 every other day.

My mito doc thought that was a good way to go with my daughter and I, in

hopes in wouldn't become an issue at a later point. YMMV
