She does have bilateral atypical. Before Dr. P she was casted 10 wks,

(most horrible experience of my life) tenotomy included but they

changed her weekly. She never had a 3wk cast. Went into the Markells

set at 60-60. Within 4 days I saw a major relapse in her R foot. They

said it would straighten out when she started to walk. She was about

3 1/2 months at the time. Long time before she would walk. I didn't

like the answer so with the support of this group contacted Dr. P and

he said she was atypical and not fully corrected. We went to see him

an had 3 castings L, 4 on the R, went into the s and set 60-

70. I also typed an error last post she is now set at 40-60. So far

she has not developed an outside crease. My biggest fear is that she

will relapse on the R. My dh always laughs at me when I point out

something that doesn't seem right.

I chat with another Mom who I met at the RMH. She said is making

the shoes to snap onto the bar. Did you hear about this? I don't know

if there ready yet but It would sure be nice (especially for

shopping). Lol How much longer is Kai in the casts? Thanks again for

your info.

does for unilateral cf is to set the non-cf at 20* rather than the

40* he used to use.

and after we saw Dr P they were 55/20 (still Markells). After the

third set of casting we got the s (we missed getting these in

Iowa by about 2 weeks) and they were set 60/20 for a while, but the

outside crease began to re-appear so we set them down to 55/20.

Crease disappeared and all was well for some time. We may set them

back up to 60* after getting new shoes (after Kai comes out of casts

again) and see how it goes.

where it is..

Does she have atypical (sorry, I can't remember) and also what shoes is she

wearing. This makes a big difference because the design of the s is

such that 60* is equivilent to 70* in the Markells.

Also, Dr P does angle by look and " feel " for some feet so not all the kids who

see him are set at the same degree. A newer thing he does for unilateral cf is

to set the non-cf at 20* rather than the 40* he used to use.

My guess is he will deal with the angle based on what he sees in each foot.

Here is a link to some photos. In the photo of the bottom of the foot you can

see the short crease that goes up the side of the foot.

In case you decide to look around the rest of the sight I just want to let you

know that some of the information is dated and inaccurate.
