Guest guest
Hi! I am 2 years post op and I have a 3 month old baby boy. I breast fed for the first 2 months but because my son wasn't gaining any weight I had to stop and go to formula. I thought I was doing really well coming home from the hospital and being able to put all my size 7's back on but now that my son is 3 months old I am noticing that my clothes are fitting pretty snug. I went to my 2 year check up with my surgeon and he told me that I am moderatley overweight... I weigh 162 lbs and wear a 7 to a 9. How do I lose the 17 pounds that I need to? Any suggestions an a diet or anything that will help??? I have a problem eating, it is almost like I never even had the gastric bypass, I can eat ANYTHING! Not Good!!! Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Thank You! Dori Hinkle
Guest guest
Hello Dori! I am now 27 weeks pregnant but in April 2003 I joined Weight Watchers. I had my RNY 11/7/00 and shortly after my 2 yr. anniversary exprienced a bounce back where it seemed the weight " appeared " over night! The lowest I had gotten down to was 133 pounds (my 1 yr anniversary) but by April 2003 I had gotten back up to 158 pounds. I cried, I was irritated and I was so pissed at myslef that I had to go back to WW as I thought I wouldn't have to " diet " ever again. I soon got over that because I realized that WW is about healthy eating which is one of the reasons why I had WLS in the first place-- to get healthy and change my lifestyle!! I decided that I had gone through way too much to get to this point and I wasn't going to let the scale climb any higher. I lost the 20 pounds but it took my from the end of April 2003 to Christmas 2003 to do it (8 LONG months)! It was a slow process but well worth it. Side note here-- I got to 138 pounds which was 3 pounds from my goal 4 days prior to learning I was pregnant!! I did attend the WW meetings but only for the first 12 weeks to get all the books and info & then joined an on-line support group WW had on their message boards and that way worked for me. I never told them I had WLS, I just didn't feel they needed to know that but everyone has their own opinion about that. So, that is just MY own personal exprience and I wanted to share. I know that after I am done nursing my baby I will try to shed some pounds if I haven't already lost the baby weight on my own with the obvious methods (cutting back on snacks, eating less sugar, watching portions, etc.) but I will go back to WW if need be-- I has worked for me in the past. Take care Dori and let us know how the battle goes!! Ivy Kennedy RNY 11/7/00 EDD 8/22/04-- another boy! Big brother Jake is going to be 10 yrs old 9/25/04.
