Uterus size

Hi Everyone,

Question about something that I wonder if you all have gone

through...

I am obsessed by uterus size right now...At my stage (in my 16th

week), they say the fundus of the uterus should be about 3-4 inches

below the navel. I sometimes have a hard time feeling the top of the

uterus due to my apron of loose skin post op. I lost 104lb in the 9

mos prior to getting pregnant and was at a " normal " weight when I

got pregnant.

I can definitely feel my uterus when I am standing, and to a lesser

extent when I am laying down.

I guess I am just so worried that something is going to go wrong,

because of my bleeding in the first trimester, etc, that when things

don't look textbook, it gets me worrying.

I am seeing the geneticist tommorrow, and I doubt he has a doppler,

but I am dying to hear babies heart beat for reassurance that

everything is still okay...even though I haven't spotted since

before my 12 week u/s...and everything was okay with that one...

Am I being totally stupid about this? My next Dr's appt is not until

June 3rd, where she should be able to hear the heart beat on

doppler, and I am already scared worrying about what if she can't

hear it?? (That happened to my sis in law last yr at 15 weeks and

the u/s showed everything was okay...as proved by now 8 month old

beautiful Gracie)...

Thanks for listening,

RN

it's hard not to be scared after bleeding. I have bled every pregnancy I have

had and have 3 healthy babies and one on the way in 10 weeks. My ob's office

said they cannot get an accurate reading of the uterus size due to my apron

and are not concerned about it. you can rent a baby doppler online, a really

nice one, I just returned mine a couple weeks ago, for $45.00 a month but it was

ssooo worth it to hear that baby whenever I wanted and I sent it back when i

started feeling regular kicking. the doppler is a really good kind like the

docs have. just type in baby doppler in the search line if you are interested.

the one I had was by babybeats.com or something like that but it was a used

doppler that looked brand new, I would of never known it was used. good luck and

try not to stress so you can enjoy your pregnancy.

,

You are not stupid for wondering, I wonder the same thing, only we

are opposite. I can't really feel my uterus when I am standing, but

I can really feel it laying down. At 15 weeks, it is only an inch or

so below my navel, unless its contracted, then its lower. If you are

that concerned, never hesitate to call your OB, most times they will

let you come in just for a quick listen on the Doppler to set your

mind at ease. I know my doc doesn't mind, he'll squeeze you in, and

sometimes he'll even take you straight to the ultrasound room for a

quick peek, just to make sure eveything is alright. So don't worry!

I'm sure everything is alright, I have faith. My doctors appointment

is one day before yours, so I fell ya when it comes to the

anticipation!

Ps...I LOVE the name Grace! We were toying with teh idea of " Olivia

Grace " if we are blessed with yet another girl this time. :)
