Ken,

I know there has been some recent discussion on email addresses in

the text of messages that we post. I guess in my experience, if you

want your entire email address to show, you have to leave a space.

But yesterday when posted the note about Dr. Harbison, she

just put her email address in her post. When I opened the post it

was shortened with the ...., but showed in blue. I clicked on it

and it sent an email to that address.

So, I guess we don't have to leave spaces?

Plus, don't most of us have our email address at the top of the page

when we read a post? I have sent several that way.

Just looking for an explanation from the computer STUD (was going to

say 'computer nerd' but didn't want to ruffle any feathers :-))

Hi Beth,

Okay, I'm moving in with you. I'll galdly stay with any one in a warm

climate who thinks I'm a stud. Mexico here I come.

I checked and yes, even though an e-mail address is shown with

elipses ( the 3 dots ), you can send a message just by clicking on it.

Leaving the space out is fine with me.

Hi Ken,

I don't mean to make things more confusing, but I'm seeing a couple

of different things in looking at the e-mail addresses posted in the

messages. I use a free e-mail account for subscribing to lists (I

receive digests). This system went through a major overhaul a few

months ago. Before the changes, I saw everyone's e-mail addresses

all the time - in the " from " in the header of their messages, the

ones posted in the messages themselves - none of the addresses were

changed to elipses. Now I only see screen names in the " from " in the

message header, but sometimes I see the entire e-mail address - I

think it is if the e-mail address is their " Name/e-mail " it seems to

post that info instead of the Yahoo!ID. (Not sure on this one, but

mom to tte is one whose e-mail address shows int

header). I can see entire e-mail addresses posted in the message,

but it is not highlighted blue (so I can't click on it to directly

send an e-mail to that person). But if I look at messages on the

Yahoo!Groups website they look just as you described. Could the

format of each person's e-mail provider change the way e-mail

addresses show in messages they receive? If so, it could explain all

these differences.

in Alaska

P.S. - I receive messages in digest form, could that cause what I see

to be different than someone receiving individual messages? Oh, and

I *still* can't post a reply directly - have to do it from the Yahoo!

Groups site or it gets rejected.
