Could I suggest getting a bouncer? This worked so great when I had my son. It

kept him calm and he just love it. They have a cool new one that has a little

aquarium with little fish that float around, and it plays very nice music to

soothe them too.

Morning!

Ok, I have been ORDERED by a certain member of my family which shall remain

nameless..MY BOSSY MOTHER IN LAW...lol to make a list of all the things I

want/need for the new baby. Its been awhile, so my mind is drawing a blank. Now

if I had not been pregnant and somebody would have asked me this question, I

would have had a million things that I wanted, but now the pregnancy hormones

have fried my brain :)

What is something that you just could not have lived without for your baby? Or

maybe something that you wished they had when your baby was born?

I never had an infant carrier (the kind you strap to you) with my other

three. I definitely am going to have one this time. It frees up your hands and

still allows you to provide that close snuggly feeling when they get grumpy and

you just HAVE to get the dishes done, the vaccuuming, etc.

I would not live without a swing (Battery operated ONLY....none of that wind up

stuff if they even still exist.)

A playpen is great.....but the pack and play type are wonderful because they

fold up to a really small space and you can tote them with you everywhere you

go.

I had 2 kids who loved a bouncy seat, one who didn't. I definitely would

recommend them.

Lots and lots of cloth diapers for burp rags....can never have enough.

I tried the Diaper Genie.......I think it's a waste of 30 bucks or however

much it was. I save my grocery bags tie up the nasty ones and get them out of

the house right away. Would never use a Diaper Genie again.

The first month or two you will have to change the baby (clothes, diaper,

sheets, EVERYTHING) several times a day. You can't get enough onesies, extra

sheets, or receiving blankets. They PEE and POOP or spit up EVERYWHERE!!

I'm sure you'll have plenty of other input. These are just my off the top of

my head suggestions.

Good luck!

==============================================================================

Diapers

wipes

diaper bag

sling

receiving blankets

more diapers

more wipes (heh)

onesies

car seat

baby shampoo/soap

Honestly....other than the above, I don't think I needed

ANYTHING else for the first several months (other than

baby clothes - but that's so much fun to shop for

yourself, and we all have different tastes. *grin*)

I think that's ALL that I needed/used in the beginning.

We're having a couple of baby showers thrown for us and when people

ask what we need (furniture, i.e., cribs, car seats, play yards,

etc. are already done) I draw a blank too and I know it is

frustrating people that want to go shopping, especially since both

showers are being held the same week.

I'm registering at Target and WalMart. I figure as long as I go

down the isles with that little scanner in my hand I can click on

things I wouldn't have thought I needed but realize will be a good

thing. A good breast pump and a double baby sling are going to be

musts for me, and I can chose the types of bottles I want since I

will be supplementing.

I totally loved my Gerry Infant Vibrating seat with my firstborn 9

years ago but couldn't find one with my last baby 19 mos ago. so I

got him the Fisher Price Kick N Play Calming Vibrations bouncy seat.

Since he had reflux for the first 12 months, he slept in his bouncy

seat (reclined position)for 8 months to help prevent aspiration into

his lungs.

this is one thing I couldn't have done without- well could have, but

life would have been much less pleasant! lol

Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions! I didn't even think

about the idea of having a winter baby and asking for some thicker

blankets and clothes, I have always had summer babies, so onsies

were really all I used. Its really a shame that I feel as though I'm

a new mom all over again, even though its only been 5 years since my

last was born...I think the moment I became pregnant, my brain lost

a few nuts and bolts. Anyways, I'm off to school for the evening,

I'll check back in the morning and see if any more ideas were

added :) I hope everyone has a wonderful night!
