GlacierOK, I cut it out this afternoon and waited till the kids were in bed to

break out the machine to sew it. Would have taken about 2 hours sew-time except

I had to modify the cuffs and coller because I cannot buy ribbing around here.

Otherwise, it's cute!!! Pretty simple too although I think I put my pattern

pieces together a little wrong (after they were printed and cut out). The

gusset, you said to cut a slit for that to fit in - well my gussets ended up on

a raw edge, and my front/back pieces were one whole piece each with seams on

each side (under arm pit and down to feet). Not sure if that was right or not,

but it worked out easily in any event! LOL! I just cut down a slit for the

zipper to fit in to and it worked. Of course it's nearly midnight and Everett

is asleep in his little sausage case but tomorrow night he gets to sleep in the

big roomy Hilton Hotel sack! :)

I'm pooped and need to clean up my machine and stuff before the boys wake up and

plunder it all. Thanks again for the pattern!!!!!!

Glad it all worked out. Not exactly they way I made the pattern, but hey, if it

works it works. Originally, the sack portion is all one piece with the center

back on a fold and the sleeve opening making a V shape between the back and

front neckline. The gusset slit is cut up the side because there are no side

seams. Let me know how the fit is. I am just relieved that it actually sewed

together. My husband says I worry to much. When ever I share a pattern, or a

loaf of bread I worry that it won't be perfect. Any ideas on how to make it

work better would be great!

It went together fine, even with my user-errors. Even with mine turning out

with side seams, the arms went in just fine. The neck opening is a little

larger than I'd perfer, but that was probably due to my seem error. It's not

TOO big, it works OK, but a little larger probably than it should . I ran it

through the washer/dryer last night when I got it done and it came out so soft

and fluffy I think I want one of these for myself!

And yes you were right about the gusset, it made all the diffence, thanks.

I see how the body could be all one piece - I'll make a note of that and try to

lay it out that way next time. Sounds much simpler!

This morning I tried it on him and it fit great though. :)

Curious on how you finished off the neckline. Facing, binding, ?

Hm, how do I explain this??? I cut a piece of fabric about 4 inches wide, and

long enough to go all the way around (with a little extra to fold under at the

zipper edge in front so no rough zipper parts were against his throat).

I inserted it on the interior side of the collar about 1/2 inch, then folded it

over the raw neck edge to the exterior side, pinned and sewed it all in place.

On the outside there remained about 3 inches of fabric hanging like a collar

that I cut in to wide fringe (so it would lay down more than just curl up).

Basically it's just a piece of material folded over the raw neck edge.

I put elastic in the cuffs and don't like that - last night they rode up to his

elbows and got stuck there all night, his arms were ice cubes this morning. I

think the problem there was that rolling the cuff up to make a channel for the

elastic made the sleeve too short. It falls right to his wrist with his arm

straight, but when he bends his arm it pulls up too high.

Otherwise, his first night in it, he didn't make a peep all night long, I think

he was much more comfortable in it.

So true about the live and learn - I should have known to add length to the

cuff, that was my own late night foggy brained mistake there. Glad I could

make your day, because it sure made mine by being able to make the little rabbit

a warm cozy nest to sleep in again :)

Just a thought?? The neckline may be a bit big if when you cut the sack out you

didn't add an inch to the neckline. When you put ribbing it, it added about

another inch all the way around. Putting the collar in was really creative,

I'll have to remember that. But if the collar hangs down the neckline would be

a bit big. Also, when you cut out the sleeve did you add extra length? For the

same reason. We all live and learn. Another option for finishing necklines,

sleeve cuffs without ribbing is as follows. You can make cuffs and a neckband

out of your fabric (if it has good stretch). I would probably cut them on the

bias or even the cross wise stretch if it is really stretchy. Just a thought.

You made my day - if the thing works for you I am so pleased.
