Hi all...

New to the board and I have a question that I am really concerned

about. I am almost 10 weeks pregnant. My first pregnany and I am 3

1/2 years post op. I am very excited, but have been dying with

morning sickness since the beginning. Morning, noon, and night....I

can't keep anything down. :( What I want to know is kinda

nasty....but I am worried about the vomitting. When I had my surgery,

I never really had a problem with vomitting. Only if I ate too much

would I have to empty a little out of my stomach and that was it. But

now with this vomitting, I don't know if it's normal! It is grennish-

yellow bile like! And I am wondering if that is normal since I can't

keep much down or if there is a problem with my staple line in

addition to the pregnancy.

Any one who can give me any input...I would be so greatful....I am so

worried...

Thanks!

Try not to worry! If you are not eating much due to nausea and

vomitting, you don't have much in your stomach to begin with. The

green liquidy vomit is the stomach acids and juices. You are

probably only seeing this when there isn't anything else in your

stomach when you vomit.

Just try to take in as much nutrition as you can to keep you and

baby healthy. Drink as much water as you can to stay hydrated. The

majority of pregnant women do not suffer with nausea and vomitting

for more than a few months. However, there are some cases where

women have these symptoms for extended lenghts of time. We'll hope

and pray you aren't one of those few unfortunates!

As long as you are not losing too much weight, and getting your

nutrients and fluid intake in, you should be okay. Go by how you

feel. Remember...baby gets first dibs on your nutritional intake.

Good luck girl! I know it is miserable while the vomitting lasts,

but hopefully it won't last much longer.

I vomit all the time...mainly its because when I do eat I am so starving that I

don't chew as well as I should......

But I did have some hit and run morning sickness in the beginning of this

pregnancy....nothing at all like when I had my son 4.5 years ago when I

literally spent 9 months in the bathroom barfing.

The only thing I can recomend is to eat a bland diet. Crackers, water, rice,

chicken or ground turkey. I know that carbs do make morning sickness a bit

better.

The only way to know if there is a problem with your staple line is to go to

your surgeon...I am sure that its fine but it may put your fears to rest. I

know it is more painful to vomit after having WLS and sometimes I almost feel

like my tummy is bruised inside....!

I also think its very normal to worry like crazy in the first trimester

especially when you have had WLS. Your body is doing a lot right now preparing

for this new life. Your blood volume is expanding, and so is your uterus!!! I

noticed things feeling more pushed up pretty early on....you may be feeling that

too.

Good luck and welcome to the list.
