Guest guest
Hi Lana, I can understand your frustration with new foods. My 11 yo ds is very much a picky eater. He has been on the GFCF diet since early February 2001. He was pretty good at first, but then got really upset that he was not allowed his previous favorites after staying with his cousins for a week in March. Now I use his favorite packaging for GFCF food and drink. Examples...I bought a couple of Hershey Milkshake drinks, let my 17 yo dd drink them, saved and thoroughly washed the bottles and now make DariFree chocolate drink in them. It holds about 12 oz. and he drinks it, no problem. He thinks I go to the store everyday to buy him a Hershey's drink for after school! His sister works at a pizza place and since he won't eat the GF pizza dough I buy for him, I've told him his sister has brought home pizza dough especially for him. He eats it. My next move will be with hamburger buns. I've kept the non GF bun bag, and will fill it with GF buns to keep him GF yet again. Now, I'm expecting that anyone in the group could have a problem with my method, but it works. And I feel it is no different than when I was a child and had a need for salting all my food to " cool it down " . My parents bought me my own set of salt and pepper shakers, but put tape on the inside of the cap, so that nothing would come out, but I'd still hear the sound of the salt shaking, therefore thinking I was cooling down my food. Do you know I was in my late teens before I found out that I wasn't salting anything all those years!!!! Do what works for your child and as long as he stays GFCF, it doesn't matter that he is limited in what he'll eat. Eventually, he'll come around. We, as parents of these special children, need to have so much patience continually. We have " Parent PDD " - Patience (with), Dedication (to), and Desire (for) our autistic children. Have a great day. ('s mom) zinc, etc. and diet > Also, my son has been on gfcf diet with not much success for six months. He > continues to be as picky as he was before pre-diet. Any new food I show him he refuses to eat. > > > Lana > > >

I think I'll hang that on my wall! :-) Sue
