Guest guest
Good Morning Ladies, I know it's early to be craving Red Lobster, but that's what my heart is set on today. What fish is okay to eat? I thought I read somewhere that Salmon was okay to eat? Is it okay to order fish blackened? I want something that doesn't taste too fishy and that's good to eat. Okay really I just want the mashed potatoes and cheddar biscuits. LoL!!!! It's hard for me to choose fish because I always ordered fried fish pre-op. I have a few more questions...how much liquid do you guys take in a day? I feel like I do not get enough liquid and my husband is always on to me about drinking water. I hate water! I can eat ice until the cows come home, but it's hard to drink just water. I tried a caffiene free diet coke one day...took one sip and poured the whole thing out. I haven't had carbonation since the night before my WLS, which will be two years in December. I've kept myself home the last two days because I've felt light headed. Like, I got up from the couch...this was early evening, walked a few steps and felt flushed, and like I was going to pass out. Since I work downtown, and my husband works uptown, and I have epilepsy and pregnant, I stayed home because I don't want to take any chances. Granted I work for a major university hospital if anything were to happen, but I just do not want to go thru the embaressment of being with coworkers and having a seizure at work. My home is closer to my neurologist and husband should anything happen. Do you think the light headedness, flushed feeling, seeing stars has to do with the increased blood flow? I'm sure my boss isn't too thrilled with me staying home two days, but this is my health and I'm pregnant and I do not want to take any chances. Guest guest
Hi Jeri, You and your baby come first, so take good care, even if your boss gets perterbed. I think it is smart of you to stay on the cautious side, especially with your epilepsy. Red Lobster, tee hee... guess where we're going to eat tomorrow! I've been craving crab legs like crazy and we've had a 50$ gift card to RL hanging around waiting to be used since Christmas. Almost any fish is ok to eat in moderation. Some choices are better than others. Off shore salmon is not as good a choice (because of heavy metal exposures) as inland salmon is. You should only have about 6-8 oz of tuna a week. Halibut, cod, orange roughie, and mahi mahi are good choices and mild on the fishy taste. I haven't heard any warnings bout shell fish. When I called our insurances pregnancy advice line they indicated that any fish once in a while is fine. Their biggest warning was concerning soft cheeses because of the dangers of lysteria. I drink between 72-80 oz of water each day. More often than not it is just plain, ice cold water, but sometimes I need a change and have sf kool-aid, propel, watered down juice, caffeine free tea with lemon, etc. I do count the 8 oz I have in my morning protein shake as part of my fluid intake. I think your hub is right on to encourage you to drink more water. Its easier to become deydrated during pregnancy, especially in the summer months, and its not good for you or your baby. Dehydration can also prompt pre-term labor. Take care! Guest guest
There are some fish that you should avoid and others that you should limit your weekly intake - salmon is one of those as well as shark and tuna but I'm not sure what else because since getting pregnant I have had an aversion to fish. As far as the dizziness goes I got very dizzy very easily in the first trimester and I was told it was due to a drop in the blood pressure because of increased blood in pregnancy. Now that i am 24 weeks it is not as bad but does still happen. Mention it to your doc when you go and they will check you out. My sister also had epilepsy when she was young and was told that hormones and pregnancy could bring it on in adulthood. Luckily this didn't happen to her but do get checked out. -Diane > Good Morning Ladies, > > I know it's early to be craving Red Lobster, but that's what my heart > is set on today.
