Guest guest
Just wondering how is doing. Is he still walking on his toes? What is the next step being discussed? How many hours a day is he in the shoes? Have you had any problems with the s breaking? We are on our second pair and now the rubbery part on the back of the heel has broken again. We just got these last month. is not sure why it is happening but is going to reinforce it more on the next pair. Hope all is well.
Guest guest
Hi , is doing soooo much better. We've finally switched the days to nights, where he actually gets more wear in the shoes. Thank God!! It was tough at first but just keeps getting easier for us and him. He is still on his right toes but it seems to me he is starting to bare more weight on it. Also the past week he's been up on his feet A LOT! I love to watch him walking. I wrote to Dr Ponseti about what Dr Herzenberg suggested and he said " Dear Mrs. Sterling: I am very sorry there has been a relapse of the posterior ligaments of the ankle and that 's feet are in equinus. Of course, I understand your concern because it is much better not to do a posterior capsulotomy because they scar so much after surgery, but Dr. Herzenberg is very knowledgeable about this deformity and I would take his recommendation. Wold's trouble was mostly due to the fact that he had a posterior capsulotomy elsewhere before the feet were fully corrected. I believe what you are talking about is a wedge and you may ask Mr. to do the same for you on the shoes you are getting now. The good thing about the atypical clubfeet is that they tend to improve with time if they are not operated. If Dr. Herzenberg agrees, you may want to wait a few months to see if improves. I.V.Ponseti, M.D. " So with that being said I'm kind of stuck. I didn't send Ponseti pictures yet. I have to get the camera hooked up and all. But I think if Ponseti sees pics of 's feet he'll change his mind. The difference being in the shoes longer is tremendous! He's in them from 14 to 16 hours now. My personal opinion is that he can't possibly be 10 equinus any longer. I almost want to go back to Baltimore just for Dr H to see the progress. We are still on our first pair of s and they are just now starting to wear. They are about 10 months old. The yellow piece was coming up from the black plastic piece. My dh bought some epoxy and now they are good as new... But he has about out grown them so we have placed an order for a new pair... I hope they last as well as our first pair.. is rough on them... Thanks for asking Hows things with Tommy? riginal message -------------- Just wondering how is doing. Is he still walking on his toes? What is the next step being discussed? Guest guest
Glad to hear is doing well. I always think about you guys being you went through some of the same challenges as us. Tommy is in his shoes about 16 hours. I put them on at 6 at night and then take them off after his am nap around 11am. My only concern is his dorsiflexion. He was at neutral the last visit to Dr. H. He said this may impove once he starts walking. He is crawling all over the place and starting to pull up. I just worry because when he is out of the shoes and sitting his feet look to be in equinus. > Hi , > > is doing soooo much better.
