Guest guest
Originally my due date was Christmas Eve so I told my mom I was making her Christmas present this year--she said-- " what, soap? " It's something we will laugh about for years to come. For my dad I made a little photo album that I decorated with stickers that said " I love Grandy & Pops " , it took him a minute but then it clicked. It will be their first gchild. My original idea for my mom was to give her a book I bought years ago for this occasion called " Funny, I Don't Look Like a Grandmother " by Lois Wyse. I couldn't wait though and had to call her at 7am (see above). We did take a picture of her holding the book and sent it via email to her friends announcing that she would be a grandmother, that was cute. My husband was at a meeting a church when I took the test and when he came home I said, " Can you interpret this for me? " handing him the box and stick. That one wasn't too creative. Guest guest
Jeri, that is such a wonderful story. I know how you must feel about your dad not being there. My Mom passed before I had any kids and I miss thta I never got to share this with her. This is what she always wanted me to do. I know she can see us though I also feel her sometimes and it is very comforting... God Bless, Robin, NorthEastern, NY Age- 41 EDD- July 27th, 2004 IT'S A BOY!!!!!! Guest guest
We took my mother in law out to dinner with the kids, and when she got up to visit the dessert bar, we put the pregnancy test stick on a saucer where her plate had been....she made it back to the table and stared at it for what seemed like an eternity, and then informed us that she needed more cheesecake LMAO...she's such a crack up! Guest guest
My husband was at home when I took the pregnancy test. I was waiting for the results and suddenly he grabbed it but couldn't figure it out. I looked at it and was freaking out, cuz it was positive. Not wanting to get our hopes up too high, we went to our PCP a few hours later for a blood test. After the blood test confirmation I called my Mom immidiately and told her. She is thrilled as I'm the first daughter(I have an older sister) to have a baby. Three of my four brothers have kids...but not the girls. She's excited and hopes for a boy. She thinks boys are easier. My three brothers that have kids had girls first. My Dads daughters had boys first. I'm usually bad about guessing, but have names picked out for girl and boy already. Once we got home hubby called his Mom and asked her if she was going to be in town for Christmas. She was like I don't know, that's one, two, three...etc, (started counting the months)...nine months away. Then it hit her and she screamed NINE MONTHS!!!!!!!!! That was the best!! A few days later my sister had called and I thought my Mom had told her and that's why she was calling. Well, my sister was talking about me going back to work and I was talking about being pregnant. Once I said, " i knew Mom couldn't keep my pregnancy a secret " . She started bawling and whatever she said after that sounded foreign to me. She's really happy. I just wish my Dad were still here to see the baby. Unfortunately he passed away in 2001. Here's the cool part. I had been waiting to even try to conceive until after my seizure med was all sorted. I had a dream one night...I guess it was a dream, I'm sure there's another word for it. Anyway, I could sense my Dad's presence. I could smell him like he was shower fresh, and could feel him sitting on the edge of my bed, rubbing my face telling me everything would be okay. It seemed so real I woke up and could actually smell him. I knew then everything would be okay and it was time to try. A few days later I told my hubby that it was time. 3 weeks later I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. I couldn't believe it. My very first pregnancy. My husband and I feel so so so so blessed.
