Some service dogs can definitely pull wheelchairs. lies' Golden Retriever

Stitches can easily pull a wheelchair with a weight totaling 350 pounds.

(Stitches weighs 65 pounds). Brooklyn, 's service dog, is much smaller

and can pull far less weight. All of the dogs trained at ECAD (and most other

agencies) are trained to pull wheelchairs directionally on command, ie pull

right, pull left, pull straight. They also know tug to open doors, move

clothing or bed linens, etc.

I realized the brute strength Stitches had accidentially. I was sitting on my

walker, which is on wheels, with Stitch by my side while lies was looking at

clothing in a store. She was at the initiation of a seizure and he went running

toward her with me gliding immediately behind...QUICKLY.
