Guest guest
Jackie, My OB told me that it's not unusual to NOT see anything on ultrasound until HCG levels were around 1,500 to 2,000. My FORMER OB, did an US at an hcg level of 137 and *decided* it was probably an ectopic and was scheduling me for removal of my tubal pregnancy! I delivered that " tubal pregnancy " at 36 weeks gestation! Take a look at my profile picture to soo just how wrong my first OB was! My hubby jokes that he wants to take the baby (now 19 months old-30#- 34 " tall) to see the *fired* OB dr to show him just how my ectopic grew! just be cautious.... if I had listened to my first OB, I wouldn't have my baby boy today.... God knows what he's doing.... and he does it sooooooooooooo perfectly!!
Guest guest
Hi Jackie.. I had my ectopic pregnancy Sept. 2001. Don't know the exact #'s, but basically what happened is that the urine test was positive, but my Dr. had me do a blood test too. I assume because of the difficulty I had getting pregnant..don't know for sure why....Anyways my hormone levels didn't quite double. So she sent me in for another test and an U/S. U/S showed nothing...really...maybe something...too hard to tell...maybe too early...hmmm...very inconclusive! So we waited for the results of the bloodwork and my hcg levels dropped. Dr. prepared me for a m/c but scheduled an u/s and more blood work for the next week. Next u/s there was nothing...should have been something by now and bloodwork showed a slight increase in hgc levels. Dr. said nope...things don't look good. Do you want to schedule a D&C? I said no...lets wait. A few days later I started spotting and then bleeding, passing very large clots. I called the dr and requested a D&C because I really freaked at the thought of having something left over and it not all passing. This was Fri, they scheduled the D&C for Monday morning. Sat. I had terrible cramping on my right side that came every 1/2 hour or so and lasted about 5 minutes. When Monday came, dr. was real suspicious and she did an investigative lap. and found an ectopic pregancy in my right tube. She was able to save the tube. Just like all pregnancies, I assume all ectopic are different. Prayers to you and your baby, that it found the right spot to implant and grow! Guest guest
Thanks Sheila! I definately won't be having a tubal removal until I know for sure that this pregnancy is not in the uterus! My doc/midwife are probably just not wanting me to get my hopes too high and preparing me for the worst possible outcome. Thanks again and your story gives me lots of hope!
