Guest guest
Hi All, Just a quick note. I'm sorry I haven't responded to my personal emails in the last week. The whole family has been down with a nasty a cold. Of course, it hit Braeden the hardest. I took him to the local ER at 5:00am yesterday. I spent 11+ hours in emergency rooms. 4 hours at County, 1 1/2 in the ambulance ride to Children's and the rest at Children's Seattle ER. I think I've only slept 8 hours during the last 48 hours. It turns out he has RSV and they are concerned about a secondary infection of pneumonia. We even have had Braeden on the monthly Synergis shots to prevent RSV! Although, one of the Doctor's said it could have been much worse if he hadn't had the shots. They could have helped build up his immune system. Well, we just got a call from the Dr. at Children's and they are transferring him to the PICU (He is a little old for the PICU but, there is no room in the NICU). The DR.'s want to know if we would considering inubating him. We will do what is best for him but, I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. I don't like making decisions when I'm so exhausted. Thank goodness for the blue pamphlet! I swear I know it word for word but, when your tired and worried and have a dozen different people asking you questions, it is easy to forget the info. I know the most important thing is the NPO/Dextrose issues but, it helps the doc's see Braeden as a whole child when they aren't familiar with RSS. Although, most of the Doc's and nurses at Children's Seattle knew Braeden yesterday. I think it is his red hair and smile and this sorry looking washcloth that Braeden loves to hold! Please send prayers and positive vibes our way... I hope all are well with you and your families and that we get through this hospitalization quickly.
