Guest guest
Hi, I have put typed leaflets up all over the city I live, at maternity wards, obstetricians, paediatricians, anywhere with a friendly face...the first ones I did just said something in bold writing like: The Ponseti Method Non-surgical treatment for clubfoot And put my clubfoot info website, Dr Ponseti's website This support group's web address Recently we began a Non profit organisation in South Africa (affiliated to Steps UK) and did a pamphlet/poster for a baby and parent expo we attended. You can see it at the (very new & and still under construction) website for Steps Charity, www.steps.org As far as putting your phone number goes, that's up to you. I didn't do that, but if people contacted me by email I would often phone them and found that talking was a very effective way to answer questions they had. and 24 Jan 2003, bilateral cf, treated April 2003 by Dr Ponseti Steps Charity www.steps.org.za www.clubfoot.co.za Cell: Poster Idea GlacierHey Everyone, You may have gathered by now I live in a teeny tiny rural area a solid 100 miles from any major city.....so medical care here is hardly at its finest to say the least, and there are no Ponseti Dr's in Oklahoma that I am aware of. I thought of putting a poster up in our church, maybe other places too....you know - to the parents of children born with clubfeet....but what should I say next? I'm willing to say they can contact me personally (is that a bad idea?) - should I add the web addresses and phone numbers to Iowa City? How do you say in ten words or less that they should investigate the Ponseti Method even if it means flying three states away? Thanks, s. Guest guest
, I think your info pamphlet is very well done. I really admire all you are doing to promote the Ponseti method in South Africa. I'm curious about the picture of in the FAB. It looks like one foot is set at 70 degrees, the other much less. Guest guest
Naomi, Thank you. No, they are both set at 70 degrees, had bilateral clubfoot, it's probably just the angle the picture was taken. In retrospect, I'm not really keen on that pic with the FAB. It was all done in quite a rush, I think next time we print I'll change it! Guest guest
I'm not aware of any cf children around here, so a support group doesn't seem practical at this point. But the communities around here are so spread apart and so rural, my thinking was more like if I tell two friends and they told two friends.....maybe sooner or later the information would get to the right person. s. ee, Have you thought about starting a support group for your area? If that is too much of a commitment, you could put your email address on the poster so they can contact you with questions. Guest guest
Back to this idea I have one of those idiot questions..... if someone saw the poster that said contact nosurgery4clubfoot could they simply write an email to that addy (as they could write to my email address) or do they have to register with the group, etc., first? s. Guest guest
In the files section T. made a poster (doc. is called poster2). If I remember correctly, she drew the wonderful pictures of the bar and the clubfeet. It's done so well - I actually printed it off and put it in a scrapbook that I'm keeping for Zach about his clubfoot. You may want to contact and see if you can use it (and maybe modify it a bit to fit your needs) or see if she could make you something? Just a thought... Guest guest
I sent a test message from my other email address and it was returned that I need to be a member of the group to send and receive messages from the group.
