Guest guest
I need help and I need it now! My son is 3 1/2 and I DREAD taking him anywhere! He whines and cries and begs to be held (he weighs 40lbs and also has a brother I need to keep track of too) from the time I stop the van until we head home again. I understand he has a fear of public places, new things etc., but what can I do? I can't leave him with a sitter because he goes balistic. Besides, some of these " outings " are doctor apts. for him, so he really ought to be there for them... I let him bring whatever toys, stuffed animals etc. that he wants, I pack special treats, I give him advance warning and let him know exactly where we're going. Any advise would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks so much!

Thanks so much! Hey : Do you have a stroller for him? My daughter is also 3 1/2 and I find that being in a stroller, and strapped in, is calming for her. That way at least I know where she is and don't have to worry about her running off, too. I know there was talk on the list about the larger strollers available for special needs kids and believe that they were similar to the jogging strollers that you see out and about. Someone on the list might be able to help you find one if that is something you think might help? I also try to take him alone. The constant talking of my two younger children really bothers him in public especially with everything else that he has to absord. Good luck Deb ________________________________________________________________ > Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
