Guest guest
- you described exactly what Quetzie is struggling with in speech. If you understand the context of the word in sentence, it's fine. If not, she becomes highly frustrated. Quetzie began speech therapy at 2 yrs old. Her receptive language too is phenominal, her expressive struggles. What we learned is that she tries to say her vowels especially throught the nose(hypernasal). If you plug her nose, she literally can't talk. We are trying to show her how to put the sounds thru he r throat, with limited success. The therapist assures me it will be easier when she is old enough to understand verbal commans for practicing speech patterns. I'm sorry for your son, I know how frustrated they get when they have so much they want to ssay, but can't be understood. I was hoping that when Quetzie's facial features grew a little more (apart), maybe it will get easier to close off the nose...hmmm. (my personal theory- " pie in the sky " )
