Guest guest
OK, I'm feeling like an idiot here. I had some Old El Paso taco seasoning mix in my pantry. The first ingredient is " maltodextrin " , but everything else sounds OK (since we don't avoid corn or soy). I called the company, and was told by a very helpful person that Old El Paso is a division of Pillsbury, and both gluten and casein are on their " Top 10 Allergens " list, so they would be specified explicitly if they were in any ingredients (even flavorings!) She assured me that the seasoning mix was gluten and casein free. So, what exactly IS maltodextrin? Aren't we supposed to avoid " malt " which comes from barley? Or is maltodextrin derived from something else? Thanks for clearing this up!
Guest guest
Is dextrin the same as maltodextrin? Cause if so DEXTRIN is on the UNacceptable list. It says dextrin is prepared by dry heating corn, waxy maize, potato, arrowroot. WHEAT. rice, tapioca or sago starches. I don't use products that I have any question about. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
