Guest guest
Hi Shayna, I add my surprise to the suggested test at MGH. I had a test done that measures whether the muscle is using oxygen correctly done with a simple squeezing of a ball with my hand and my blood tested before after and during the test. Personally, I would not agree to a test that used the method you describe unless it was completely necessary, unavoidable, and had great benefit in information to guide treatment choice, and there was no other way to obtain the info. Sounds like a number of people have gotten the same info from less invasive tests. Maybe this is just the test of choice at MGH? I had mine done at NEMC in Boston. Not sure if it measures the same thing, but the purpose seems the same. I also agree with the suggestion to space tests out to allow for recovery before going through another test. I also found I had sensitivities to contrast materials, gadolinium used with MRIs, pain meds after surgery, etc. etc. Adam
