Guest guest
Tamara, God bless you. You poor thing! I know how you feel and I don't have a tiny infant to care for. I don't know how you have made it this far--and kept from killing little Ebony. :-) You are an exceptional person! I don't know what time you give Ebony the melatonin, but we have learned not to give my son any of that stuff before 10:00pm or he will wake up in the middle of the night. Also, I have been told that any time you take melatonin to sleep, you will eventually need more and more of it to sleep which is not safe. My only real advice is to see a Neurologist right away and have him prescribe Clonodine to help her sleep for the time being. Tell him it is an emergency. You have to get some sleep. Good luck. Please let us know how you are doing.

I am usually the one who say's use these meds as the last resort...but under the circumstances it seems like a good idea. Not only is your patience with Ebony important, so is your ability to be calm enough to nurture the baby. Also, If she's sleeping better, she'll be better able to adjust to life with a baby in the house. Good luck and hope that you all get some rest! Guest guest
Tamara Oh my, I stay awake nights thinking what is going to happen when my daughter arrives in June. My son Nik is 5 1/2yo PDD-NOS and is use to being the only little one in this house. I don't give him anything to help him sleep though. I did a trial and error with about every food and supplement I give him to find out that he can't tolerate alot of hotdogs and I don't give him anythign to eat 1 hour before bed time. Some nights I end up giving him Pepcid-AC tablet to help his tummy calm down. My husband works 2 jobs so he won't be able to help out alot when #2 arrives. He is going to take 3 weeks off when she arrives and that in itself will be a big help for ajustment purposes. I just received my first respite money and when Nik gets out of school 2 days a week they will come and help out. Thankfully Nik is in a full day ABA / Kindergarten program throughout the year, summers included. Big Hugs to you , Terry.B
Guest guest
Yes, i just had my sixth child. My 6 1/2 yr old twin boys are autistic. I suggest if you have trouble with you son waking up at night use the good stuff from a health food store--melotonin 2.5mg our boys use a whole tablet crushed in water. We have been using it about a year or so and they do not have sleep trouble too much anymore. Before we discovered melotonin they were both up all night for 6 months straight. It was a killer, you couldn't get them back to sleep. This stuff works in 20 minutes and lasts for about 4 hours. do not use it to initially put him to sleep only if he gets up in the middle of the night. it makes the kids feel icky so be there to comfort him till he's asleep. It is a killer, new babies are tough those first two months. Both my husband and I are still quite tired. let me know if you need more support or information. Our supplements from kirkmanlab.com have helped too. we just started the gfcf diet 6 mos ago too. everything helps. therapy too.
