Vivian,

Encephalomyopathy just means disease of brain and

muscle. Doesn't mean lesions.

I also have a complex I defect. It is a malfunction of the first step

in the process of turning fuel into energy. It can also cause the

other complexes after it to have decreased function. Your symptoms

will not be like all that have a complex I defect, because symptoms

are dependent on the number of " bad " mito in cells of a particular

organ or organ system.

How are you doing with the diagnosis?
