Hi,

I didn't see your name anywhere in your post.

Yes, growth ends at puberty. The bone age in RSS children rapidly

increases at this time and catches up the chronological age. Also,

the bone plates fuse. Once the bone plates fuse, there is nothing

left to do to increase growth.

Good luck,

Judith, Steve, (RSS) and (non RSS) 4 year old twins

Alison,

Is this the bone age x-ray? I probably sound really dumb. But I

have no idea what is going on. We have always tried to be really

positive and happy. Like nothing was " different " . THANK YOU

Growth ends when the growth plates fuse. You can see on a bone age x-

ray how close the growth plates are to each other, or if they have

joined up.

Puberty goes on for a period of time. At the end of puberty, no

further growth is possible. However at the beginning of it and during

it, growth can still occur if the growth plates have not fused.

I have sent you a message to your private yahoo address explaining it

a bit further.

I asked Dr. H. the same question. Max wanted to stop the gh, so he

had a talk with her about it. She said that he has to continue the

gh until his bone age reaches 16 if he wants to grow taller. Once

it reaches 16, gh is usually stopped and the growth plates will

fuse. I'm so glad that for now he is 1.5 years behind. Of course,

that could change quickly so it has to be watched.

Other factors depend on hormone levels, but I don't remember the

exact hormones that are checked.

Keep an eye on the bone age. So long as it lags behind, your

daughter has time to grow. But be aware that it can advance

quickly, so a check every 6 months should be done. It's just an x-

ray of the hand.

Jodi Z.
