Most of the insurance companies say that! how many times have you been

denied? have you checked out obesityhelp.com for help on this matter, i think

you

can even get ideas for appeal letters that might help you out. DONT GIVE UP!!

that is what the insurance companies want you to do, then they know you are not

serious. so DONT GIVE UP

Hi,

I am trying to get my insurance to cover surgery. I have been denied

many times yet I am over 100 lbs overweight. Does anyone have a

suggestion?

Should I appeal? How many people have been denied then won the appeal?

erin, fight 'em fiercely! give 'em all the documentation from

specialists, prescription receipts, 'remind' them of the NIH

consensus... on asbs.org they also offer literature. check your

policy regarding the appeals process & go for it!

Hi all,

I am working on insurance issues, as I finally had to stop

working even part time as a reading teacher. My last day was this past

Friday. An emotional day, but I still don't think it has sunk in yet!

Since I was only part time, I do not have long term disability with my

school district. I do receive Soc. Sec. Disability already and do have

Medicare. Does anyone have a supplemental plan with Medicare? I may

be able to qualify for Medicaid in a few months, but we will see. I

still want to make sure I have all the coverage as possible, as I could

be needing back surgery down the road. Any thoughts would be

appreciated.

Smiles,

a

No help from me on the insurance issues, but wanted to let you know I

am thinking of you are this difficult time. I am glad you stopped

working. I also know how hard it is to give up something you love, but

my guess is that you will find something that allows you to help

others, but on your own time table when you feel up to it.

Hugs,

laurie

Hi a

Do you have both Medicare parts A and B? Since I don't make much money, the

state pays for my Medicare part B premiums. Maybe your state has that program

available too.

Darlene,

I do have both Medicare parts A and B. I am currently working

with a social worker and we are trying to get my Medicare premiums paid

for. He knows about Medicare and Medicaid, like how to obtain them, but

not what they will cover and if I should need additional assistance.

Thanks for your response.

Laurie,

Thanks for your support. I know you know what this is like. I

know I should have stopped sooner, but with working only 2 1/2 hours vs

full time, I thought I could do it. It was such a hard decision, even

though I knew what I should do. The four hospital stays since July

should have been my warning sign! :-) I am taking awhile to recoup and

then would like to start volunteering, when I have my good days, at the

school and with various organizations. I know I have to remember to pace

myself! My first order of business is to clean my apartment. I have

let that slide. :-)

How have you been doing lately?
