Guest guest
Hello again. I had written earlier regarding my son Max and the degree at which the DBB was set at. His feet are currently set a 45 degrees in the bar. A lot of you responded saying that this worries you and that it wasn't following correct ponseti protocol. This is extremely upsetting to me as well. I have been doing a lot of research and what I have found is that at the last casting the feet should be set a 70 degrees and then placed in the DBB also at 70 degrees. I would just like to know what degrees your children with bilateral club feet are set at? Is it different with every child. I am waiting for my doctor to call back so that I can figure out if everything is right. I will let you guys know what I find out. Thank you. Guest guest
70 on the CF and 35 on the non CF. The non CF doesn't matter so much. The CF should absolutely be at 70, but the last cast should be 70 too or it'll be uncomfortable. I'd call the doc anyway, you're right about this and they may need to re-cast. That is, if you can convince them his foot needs to be at 70. How frustrating! I'm sorry , keep it up though, you're doing a great job for your little guy! Guest guest
, How far are you from your doctor's office? Perhaps you could print off a few articles about the proper outward rotation of the shoes (and last cast) and bring it over there (or email it if you have an email address for your doctor)? There are directions for how to set up the brace in the files section under the bracing folder- look under the folder from Hall from APO in Iowa City. I would also recommend the Global HELP booklet- http://www.global- help.org/publications/ponseti-cf.html If your son is bi-lateral, both shoes should be set at 70 degrees. The only deviation to this would be if the shoes are reverse-last shoes (which isn't the standard shoe used-they curve outward to look like the shoes are on the wrong feet versus a straight shoe that looks like it can go on either foot), where the angle would be less. 45 degrees is not enough rotation for a clubfoot. I think 60 is maybe the least that I recall. Good luck, ask questions, and keep us posted! Regards, & (3-16-00), left clubfoot http://ponseticlubfoot.freeservers.com/ > > Hello again. Guest guest
Bilateral cf, both feet should be set at 70 degrees. The only exception is Atypical, and that is case by case. Guest guest
Dr. Ponseti consulted via pictures of my son's feet and said to set his s at 50 degrees. He has atypical feet. > > > > Hello again. I had written earlier regarding my son Max and the > > degree at which the DBB was set at. His feet are currently set a 45 > > degrees in the bar.
