Guest guest
Is this true of all RSS kids - that the bone age accelerates rapidly at puberty reaching their chronological ages? I thought I have heard of some that haven't acclerated too much. Also, how does being on growth hormone affect this catch up? Any responses would be appreciated. I would especially like to hear from people who children are now in puberty or have already gone through puberty. Thanks,
Guest guest
- My bone age was always a few years behind my chronological age, but at age 11 or 12, it shot up something like 6 years in one year...so by the time I got my first period at 12Y 1M, my bone age was 14 or 15. I grew MAYBE another 1/4 " after that, and ended up at a whopping 4'6.75 " I did not receive GH. -Sharon- Just an RSS kid who grew up 4'6.75 " , 94# 38Y, 3W, 2D
Guest guest
, Some RSS kids don't accelerate their bone ages at puberty because they are taking meds to slow it down. Max takes Arimidex, but he used to also take Zoladex. Arimidex delays adrenarche and Zoladex stops puberty altogether. Last fall Dr. H. decided to let Max go into puberty, so we stopped the Zoladex. Man, was Max happy about that! We are continuing the Arimidex mainly to help keep his bone age delayed so he has more time to grow. Jodi Z.
