Guest guest
I don't know how I came up with the idea, but it is working. As you know, Max is having a terrible time with the g-tube and the j-tube leaking. We have tried tape, tape and gauze and lots of pleading to make it stop. I was taping him up this afternoon when I thought I'd try a snack sized ziploc bag. I figured I could just tape that over the tube. Then, as I reached for the bag and realized it was still kind of big, I saw a roll of Press 'N Seal, the stuff that is like Saran Wrap, but you can press it on anything and it will stick. I cut a small piece and wrapped it around the tube like its own little plastic bag. It sticks to itself, so I was able to customize it to fit closely. Problem solved! Jodi Z. Guest guest
--Jodi, You are a saint. What a genious idea. We have had problems in the past with Mollie's gtube leaking and have tried the tape etc.. which only seams to work for a short time. The last two nights have been particuarly bad, the entire bed soaked before she realized it. This sounds like a great idea. Hope it works well for you. You certainly deserve it. Guest guest
Debbie, For the most part, the Press 'N Seal is working well. We had only one time where it leaked so much that even that did not help. Just remember to use gauze, too. That will help absorb some of the liquid. Also, do you layer her bed? We used to put a waterproof mattress cover on, then a fitted sheet, then another cover, etc. I think we had three layers on at once. This way if the tube leaked in the middle of the night, I could just peel away one layer and the bed was already made. At 2am, it really helps. Jodi Z. Guest guest
--Hi Jodi, Yes we do layer the bed as well. Three layers just like you mentioned. The past few nights we have managed to go through all three layers. This will not last forever. Thanks for mentioning the gauze as well, because I neglected to think of that.
