Guest guest
The BRAT diet is usually used for kids with diarrhea. It is bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. The doctors have found, however, that some fat is needed in that diet because fat slows down metabolism and helps control the upset stomach. It is recommended that the toast be buttered and butter be added to the rice. Due to a milk allergy, we use dairy-free margarine which works the same way. Also, you can add chicken, preferably boiled, if the child tolerates it. This diet should not be used for more than a couple of days. Jodi Z.
