Guest guest
Instead of using gauze which will just sit wet on the skin and can cause futher irritation we found this dressing - It is called Exu-Dry and is made by and Nephew. The dressings we use are 4 x6 so I tape is under the tube site to collect the leakage. It does really work in pulling the moisture away from TJ's skin so does not breakdown. I had to purchase a box of 10 which cost $38 but are well worth it. Try a medical suppy store. Meribeth
Guest guest
Meribeth, I was not talking about leaking at the site on the skin. I was talking about the tubing itself leaking. Max does not have a button yet. He had to start all over with the tubes and the blue g-port valve leaks. His stomach is not emptying so the pressure builds up and the fluid pushes out of the opening of the tube. That is several inches away from his skin, but it gets his clothes wet. Between the gauze, the tape and the Press'n Seal, it now stays dry enough for him to at least go for a few hours and not have wet pants or a stain on his shirt. He is having the g-j button placed on April 26. We have to wait a month for everything to heal again. I'll look into that gauze you mentioned, though. Once Max has the button, we will be dealing with granulation tissue and leaking from the stoma and all sorts of lovely stuff. Jodi
Guest guest
hi all!! i dont know if this will work since i dont have a tube to deal with, but i am a nursing mother and the pads i use in my bra soak any leakage into the core of the pad and turn it into gel. maybe you guys could take a pad and put a hole in the midle so you could put it around the tube and then it could soak up the leakeage(like the gauze) but will keep the skin from getting wet. like i said i know nothing about the tubes but i figured i do know about leaks especailly now that he is sleeping longer if it wasnt for those pads i'd be a soaking wet mess in the morning. so maybe give it a try, you never know!! jodie (nicholas-6 nonrss, christopher-3 rss 23lbs 33 " ght genotropin .6, johnathon-9m nonrss)
