Guest guest
my daughter Grace constantly rubs her feet together while she is out of her brace. if she is sitting still for any amount of time she rubs them back and forth on each other. she does it so much she makes them red and actually almost has " carpet " burn. then she cries when i touch them because they are sore. does any one else's child feel the need to always rub their feet together? is this because they are actually out of the brace and she likes the sensation? she also hates to have socks or anything on while she is out of the brace. is that a normal thing? thanks! mommy to Grace 12-03-03 BCF Dobb's Brace 23/
Guest guest
, It sounds like maybe she's itchy. Have you considered changing what you wash her clothes with? Maybe you will have to wash her socks with something special? If you can't find something that she tolerates, try a natural *soap* laundry cleaner. Hard to find but it's often much gentler on sensitive skin. Ivory Snow used to be soap, it's detergent now so don't rely on that one. White King can still be found I'm sure in some parts of the country (I can't get it here anymore) or there's a natural soap at Trader Joes too. Natural soap also keeps your clothes nice. I used to use it on everything for years but don't anymore, and I can honestly say that detergent destroys cloth. It cleans well, and that's what I need for kid stains but it sure took my *looked exactly the same for 11 years* bath towels out in a matter of about 2 years. To the point of starting to actually fall apart. Of course back to the point... maybe she just needs a change, or something like Dreft for her socks if the rest of her isn't affected? Guest guest
Ava rubs her feet together the same way when she's out of her brace, but she's not sore or anything. Her feet usually are red when I take her brace off. And yes, socks are impossible! I feel bad putting shoes on her when her brace is off, but I've had too, at least when we go out...she rips her socks right off and it's been cold!! Plus I'm losing socks left & right! (hehehe I just made myself laugh...left and right ;-P ) mommy of: Guinevere, on Ava 8/4/04 RCF ABS DBB 18/7 > > my daughter Grace constantly rubs her feet together while she is out > of her brace. if she is sitting still for any amount of time she > rubs them back and forth on each other. she does it so much she > makes them red and actually almost has " carpet " burn. then she cries > when i touch them because they are sore. does any one else's child > feel the need to always rub their feet together? is this because > they are actually out of the brace and she likes the sensation? she > also hates to have socks or anything on while she is out of the > brace. is that a normal thing? thanks! > > mommy to Grace 12-03-03 BCF Dobb's Brace 23/
Guest guest
Can't comment on the rubbing, but Zoe will not keep her shoes and socks on. Drives me batty because it is freezing out, by GA standards, and by the time I get somewhere in the car she has everthing off and strewn everywhere. I actually like rubbing my feet together too. It is very soothing. Maybe you can try putting lotion on when she is doing it. Might help keep the rash away. Guest guest
, I spoke with this morning about Grace rubbing her feet together and she said to make sure you are not using lotion on her feet and when you take her out of the braces, massage her feet. She said they are itching and need stimulation that is why she is rubbing them on the carpet. Using the lotion on her feet will make her more susceptible to blisters. ~Shelley
