Guest guest
I have read on hear about when our kids get high fevers they give them motrin... Well I know alot of our kids also have esopugitus reflux and my endo told me Motrin is BAD and to only use tylenol he said these kids with this reflux, the motrin eats away their stomach lining, I never knew this with till he was 3 years old and that is all I ever used with him when he was(little baby) sick, he used to project tile vomit all the time and the peds just kept changing his formula until we got to see our GI. I know it is not my fault but the reflux, but he has holes in his throat and stomach lining all this time , Thank goodness we found out through a colonoscopy and endoscope so he has been on Prevacid about 2 1/2 years and it is getting a little better, I just wanted to let you all know to maybe ask your doctor especially if you child has reflux!!! Guest guest
, I was very surprised to hear that your doctor said that. I have pretty severe reflux myself and have to take prolosec every day and I have never had a problem at all with any ibuprofen medication. No discomfort, no nothing. And my doctor certainly knows that I take it and that I have reflux. I have much more problem with a banana! Although I am sure that there is some risk of stomach problems, I have a hard time imagining that it would result from just a few doses given to reduce a fever during illness. Usually, when an analgesic does cause stomach damage, it results from constant usage, like for arthritis. Also, I believe that there is some minimal stomach risk from Tylenol as well. I hate to disagree with a doctor, but I would be concered with removing Ibuprofen from my arsenal of fever meds considering what happens when has a fever. I would suggest that you discuss this with 's ped and see what he thinks. I hope this helps. Conny, 's great aunt > I have read on hear about when our kids get high fevers they give > them motrin... Guest guest
- Hi well I was shocked to to hear that the motrin is not caused the holes in his stomach lining, it was from reflux, projectile vomiting as a baby, It was cause he always has high fevers and he just mentioned to not use motrin with him since he already has the holes it would make it worse through time on his lining, I hope I am explaining this to you right.I am not sure either but I just don't use it now, he has been on prevacid going on 3 years and still has the holes, they are thinking of maybe doing surgery, not quite sure what it is called but mentioned using his stomack lining and wrapping it around his esopugus, I asked if it was called a Nissan but she said it was a different procedure?? Thanks for the info.. -- In RSS-Support , " colson45 " wrote: > , > > I was very surprised to hear that your doctor said that. Guest guest
Dear , That does kind of make more sense that if he already had damage, avoiding any risk of further damage is wise. You make perfect sense, my dear. Conny > > > I have read on hear about when our kids get high fevers they give > > > them motrin...
