I just found another gal here where I work that went

to the exact same doctor with her son as I am with

and she confirmed it...he is TERRIBLE and has

ABSOLUTELY no idea what he is doing. He apparently

lied to me when he said he completely follows the

Ponseti method. She also told me about another gal

here in Sioux Falls that had the EXACT same experience

with him (she is on nosurgery4clubfoot I have been

told...is there a Jayme with a daughter named Ava?)

Anyway, she talked me into emailing Dr Ponseti, which

I did and am waiting to hear from him. I may call

down there this afternoon to see what he thinks I

should do. I know I am going to need to take

to Iowa City so Dr P can treat him. Hopefully we can

start it soon so that his foot doesn't relapse too

awfully bad since right now he is just in the AFOs per

Dr Carlson's orders. I am so upset right now I don't

even know how to feel...

Hi ,

Don't feel bad about 's past treatment, the best thing to do is to

look forward to the proper treatment he will get now that you have looked

into it and decided to switch. Lucky you aren't too far from Iowa City.

How old is ?

What got our local Shriner's to switch to the Ponseti method was us bringing

our daughter back in after her feet were corrected without surgery by Dr. P.

You may want to consider bringing back to your doctor after his

treatment. Your current doctor probably doesn't deliberately go out trying

to be ignorant and not correct children's feet. You never know, maybe he

will get training and do better for others.

keep us posted,

How old is again? I'm sorry, I keep getting everyone mixed up.

Anyway, look at it as a blessing in disguise. I know that is not exactly

comforting to hear, but it is good you discovered the 'bad' news now

rather than later. Hopefully it is early enough where not too much damage

has been done. And on the bright side, it is possible there is no damage

to at all (I say this without knowing s real treatment

history). And you can hopefully move on smoothly.

Please let us know what Dr. Ponseti has to say. Did you send him pictures

too?

I remember Jayme and Ava. I don't think Jayme has posted since they went to see

Dr Ponseti. If you go back through the archives searching " Jayme " (you have to

keep hitting the search button to get it to go back through the archives), you

should be able to pull up her email address. I found it in my address book,

I'll send it to you privately.

The doctor had her daughter in an FAB that was set up very wrong and her little

girl was miserable. I think things went very well at Dr Ponseti's. Jayme was

then looking for ways to educate that doctor a little bit. Apparently, not much

has come of that. It's unfortunate that some docs just don't seem to get it...

You WILL NOT regret the trip to Iowa City if you decide to go there. If Dr

Ponseti is not available to see your son(he's about to go on vacation), any of

his colleagues will give you the same level of care.

All our best to you and yours,

Naomi

Your Mommy's instincts sent you out to check into what your dr. was

doing with your child and you are by no means in a " bad " spot. Even if

has lost some correction I am sure it won't take long to get

it corrected and on to maintenance you go, and not with an AFO. You

are doing a great job by being here and researching further. You have

made a good decision to go to Dr. Ponseti. Try to take it easy, one

step at a time.

That is amazing that someone in your office has a clubfoot child.

Let us know how it goes.
