Guest guest
Hi, I have been a member for sometime but pretty much just remain a lurker. I have a daughter who turned 7 in December and is my " little " angel. I read the posts daily but for the most part consider my daughter to have a very mild case of RSS. She was DX when she was 3 months old by an endroconologist at the University of Louisville. The first year was the hardest. (her and I both smile when we look back to how far we have come) She did receive early intervention the first year for OT and PT. She proved all the dr.'s wrong as far as her milestones go....she walked at 11 months...rode a trike, started riding her bike without training wheels at age 4, she is in gymnastics, rides a motorized scooter , cheerleads, plays soccer, swims etc. She excelled in grade K and now as a 1st grader she is doing very well....she reads on a end of year 3rd grader and does 2nd grade math. She has a personality that just melts your heart and will explain her syndrome to anyone that calls her a shrimp...lol Right now we are dealing with the dental issue. She has several caps on her teeth and has already lost 7 teeth (all on her own) We do know however that we will have to have some teeth pulled as the permenant teeth come in...in fact we are going to the dentist in the morning as one of her silver caps is causing her some pain. Shelby was on Periactin but I have sense stopped giving it to her as I now have to remind her that " I think she has had enough " Gee, who would have ever thought I would use those words. She seems to have taken on a growth spurt...she is now wearing between a 5 reg or 6 slim in pants just depending on the maker...a 6x shirt and a size 10 shoe...man I NEVER thought we would make it this far. (big SMILE) I guess it may sound like I am boasting (maybe I am just a little) but I wanted to give you first time moms (as Shelby is my one and only...I can not have anymore due to cancer) that there is some light on this rough journey. I live in Indiana...just across the bridge from Louisville, KY...please feel free to email at smithjrtazracing@... (proud mommy to Shelby~~age 7 RSS 43~44 lbs and 46 inches tall

Guest guest
Jennie, Oh how I know Shelby wishes that she could fit into a size 13 shoe. Just getting into a 10 was a BIG milestone for us. She likes to keep up with all the trends and with the girls in her class and with such a small shoe size that was almost next to impossible. I do have LOTS of pictures of Shelby and when hubby gets in this weekend will have him hook up the scanner, teach me how to use it and if all goes well, I will post some pictures of her. Have a good day, ~Mom to Shelby RSS age
Guest guest
Your daughter is the same as my daughter too! She will be eight in June. Do you have a picture to share? I just got my daughter Lindsey's school picture yesterday that I will post in a minute. Oh, the only thing different is Lindsey has a long skinny feet! she can wear size 13. Guest guest
I tried posting Lindsey's picture but the photo section's not working again. Lindsey wears size 5 pants,6 shirt and 13 -1 shoe! It must be from her odd couple parents! I'm a petite 5'1 with little feet, and her dad is a big man at 6'3!Doesn't really match her body lol! they're very skinny feet, shoes are hard to find, because of that. She was just 40 pounds a month ago,but she put on alot of weight from the Zyprexa medication. I need to weigh her! i would love to see your daughter, hooking up the scanner is very very simple Jennie
Guest guest
I don't think you'd get any argument form anyone here that the term " failure to thrive " is one of the crappiest terms going and should really be re-phrased asap. I've been quite tempted on many occasions to harp in with " failure to diagnos " or " failure to properly treat MY SON! " Kathy
