Guest guest
Dear hix, It is always good to see you post. I couldn't quite understand from your post, if you had trouble eating enough or too much. Diet is definitely an individual situation. What works for me one day may or may not work for me the next. I can eat dairy fine, where a lot of people cannot do that. I need the yogurt for acidophyllis, calcium, and protein. I get the fat free kind. I try and avoid the commercial brands like Yoplait, because it has too much sugar. Regarding sugar, I feel like it puts too much strain on the pancreas to have additional sugar in the diet. There is enough natural glucose in foods I don't like consuming extra. In particular, I am working hard to avoid consuming high fructose corn syrup. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to avoid. It is in everything. Everything. Bread, crackers, cereal, yogurt, everything except fresh fruit. All canned fruit mostly has it. I think I will put out a poll on weight. I was glad to find out that I wasn't the only one gaining more weight the less I ate. It seems that the body goes into starvation mode and won't metabolize anything. I am hoping that if I can achieve glycemic control, my weight will stabilize. Blessings, Karyn Exec. Director, PAI Indianapolis, IN The PAI serves as a means of support, information, and advocacy. Guest guest
Hi Ginny and everyone, In regards to helping gain weight, Floyd drinks Carnation instant breakfast mixed with 2% milk to increase the calories without adding a large amount of fat. He did not like the taste of the ensure or boost drinks. He will also occasionally add some ice cream to this and make a shake out of it. He drinks 3-6 glasses of this per day and it is less expensive than the ensure drinks and has the vitiams and such that he needs. The other suggestion I have is many small meals during the day. Floyd will eat a small amount, then wait for an hour or so and eat some more. He winds up eating about 6 or more small meals each day, plus the drinks and water which he has constantly. Hope this helps. God Bless All Ruby
Guest guest
Your blood presure is not the cause. Several things can cause it. New medications, changes in meds, then there is kidney failure, congestive heart failure. With wls there was study done showing the effects of eatting to much protien was causing damage to kidneys. I cant verify this as true but will ck with hospital drs on my next paramedic shift cori

Guest guest
I wish my OB was as supportive about the weight issue. I know my fiance's mom gained like 80 LOL. I am currently 1.5 yrs out from surgery and shes really pushing that glucose test on me. I told her it may make me sick, and i asked if i could have a blood test instead. She told me it isnt as effective so i need to drink the stuff. UGH! Sooooooo i dunno what to do. I did however email my surgeon and waiting to hear what he has to say about the whole thing. Congrats on passing the test!
Guest guest
I have no idea why they insist so strongly on that. I know there have been alot of posts on the glucose topic, so i will def look into them. Thanks for the encouragement lol

Guest guest
Hello everyone! I will be be 29 weeks on Saturday and have gained 28 pounds to date. I just had my 7 month check up on Tuesday and my doctor is very happy with my progress, no worries at this time. I know I have said this before but I had really thought that I wouldn't gain like a " normal " pregnant woman but now I have realized that isn't the case! LOL We all are different but it has been 3.5 years since my surgery and I can also eat more at this time, too. I want to report that I made it through the glucose test with flying colors on Tuesday... much better than I expected. I did it 10 years ago when I was pregnant with my son and it was as thick as Karo syrup so I was dreading it! It went down easy, just like drinking orange crush for me! I am just glad that it is over... I now get to have my doctor appointments every 2 weeks, I cannot believe how fast this pregnancy has gone! Have a good day everyone, Ivy Kennedy Open RNY 11/7/00 with Dr. Baker in Fridley, MN EDD 8/22/04- it's another boy! Big brother Jake will be 10 yrs old 9/25/04. Guest guest
Hi . This will sound nuts, but I specifically look away when they weigh me @ the OB's. As long as docs say I'm " on target " , that's all I'm gonna worry about. It's too much of a 'weird' feeling to see the #s creep up after joining the ranks of the skinnies.
