" Girl " heartrates are sometimes faster than " boy " heartrates. My son's heartrate was always around 120-130. My daughter's was always around 140-150. So, when I first heard my baby's heartbeat at 8 weeks, and the ultrasound tech. told me that it was 147, I was pretty sure she was a girl. When I heard it again at my 12 week appointment, it was 160, so I was convinced she was a girl. At my 16 week ultrasound, I wasn't surprised when we saw that she is a girl!!! I know this doesn't work for everyone, but it did for me because I already had a boy and a girl to compare to! Best wishes! Guest guest
Yep! From the second hubby and I absorbed that we truly were pregnant we both looked at each other and said, " We're going to have a girl! " It was weird but we both knew from the bottom of our gut that we were going to have a girl without one ounce of doubt. We were going to wait till she was born to find out but caved in when we went for the 20 week ultrasound. When the tech told us she was a girl my husband was practically jumping up and down in the room and grinning from ear to ear for days. For the rest of the evening every person we ran into, stranger or not, he would tell them that he was going to have a daughter, LOL! Our little Hannah will be 8 weeks old next Wednesday and we feel very lucky. Axelrod Goofy question: Did you have a gut feeling about baby's gender? Hi. Just wondering---did anyone have a hunch about baby's gender before the ultrasound &/or delivery? Thanks!!! WlsMomma what a 1st timer! Guest guest
Not the slightest bit of a hunch with any of my kids... 1st was a girl, 2nd was a boy, 3rd and 4th are girl and boy, lol. I took all those prediction tests on line, did the games of chance with m&m's and passing cars and could never get anything to tell me. Other than for shopping reasons, I've never been all that concerned about our babies genders. Toi > Hi. Guest guest
Hi ! I'm hoping for a ultrasound at my next visit to learn the sex of the baby. I'm bad at predicting the sex and was proved wrong everytime last year when 3 girls in my department were pregnant. I get signs every now and then that it's a girl, even dream it's a girl. But I personally feel that it's a boy. From the get go I wanted a girl. But now, I just want a healthy baby (of course)! As for the heartrate...at the confirmation appt the heartrate was 161. And the next appt the heartrate was pretty fast via doppler. I didn't think my ob/gyn was going to find the little munchkin...but he did and all of the sudden the heartbeat was strong and loud! At my next appt, my ob/gyn wants to do a pap (ugh!). I really don't want a pap because if I spot I know I'll freak even though it happens. I think to make it up to me I should get an ultrasound. LoL!!!! I'll tell him that too. Jeri WLS 12/10/02 EDD 12/06/04 -132lbs > Hi. Guest guest
Thanks for all the replies. It's the same for me, but dh already has 2 grown sons, 19 & 21. Thought that super affectionate dad & big bros could be more kissy pooh with a girl, though. But everyone's so thrilled, it's the best feeling:-) Thanks Jenni, , , Toi, & Jeri. Guest guest
The old wives tale that says the higher heart rates are girls and the lower heart rates are boys. My OB says it isn't possible to pre-determine the baby's sex based on fetal heart rate as they all usually start out very high around 160's-170's/+ (mine initially at the very first US was 174). A HR of 174 should indicate a girl, but it was born with a weinie! Speaking as a L&D nurse, many, many of the 110's-130's ARE boys and many many of the 140's-160's are GIRLS. it's a wait and see game (I dont like those either!!) Only one person knows the gender before we do....... *looks upward to the Heaven's*
Guest guest
I had a feeling it was a girl and the ultrasound confirmed it. I also believed that we were having a girl since we couldn't figure out a girls name and still don't have one. Guest guest
I'd love to believe I'm having a girl (will hopefully find out on June 30) but I've got a 6yr old boy that was very active in the womb and had higher heartrate. (usually around 170) This time the heartrate is around 150 every time. So as far as the old wives tale....didn't work at all with my son. Guest guest
With my son I had a high risk pregnancy and at least 10 ultrasounds. Everytime they said he was a girl........Going down the hall to have my c-section I looked at my mom and said " Don't be mad if the baby turns out to be a boy. " I just had a feeling............!!! My mom laughed at me but when they pulled my son out and the doctor said " oooops.........I guess we were wrong..... " I paniced and then he showed me and I started laughing!!! That is the only kind of ooops I ever want to hear in an OR. With this pregnancy I knew all along I was having a boy.....I had a dream. My husband though was so sure that this was a girl...He kept saying everything is different this time. Your carrying different. I was like duhhhhh honey I'm over 150 pounds lighter of course I'm carrying differently!!!! Chrystal Wife to Jace - together 6 Years! Happy Mommy to - 4 Years Old! Jonas Due July 28, 2004!
