Guest guest
Jodi - you are right. I didn't mention Zolodex on purpose because I couldn't find any mention of Zolodex in any literature published on SGA/RSS and puberty. Because Zolodex is not FDA approved but Lupron is, I didn't want to confuse the issue. That being said folks, Zolodex is widely used in Europe to postpone puberty. Whereas Lupron is an intramuscular injection every 28 days or so, which can be very painful without EMLA and still hurts a bit with EMLA, Zolodex is a pellet that is inserted under the skin, what Jodi, about every 88 days??? The skin is numbed and then a small cut is made and the pellet goes under. Every child I have talked to that has used Lupron and then moves to Zolodex says they would never go back to Lupron. Dr. Harbison uses Zolodex herself, but you have to be specially trained in how to use it, and I haven't run into a single other pediatric endocrinologist so far in the US that uses Zolodex. However, my experience is VERY limited with doctors -- there may be more out there that use it. If any of you run into any that do, will you post it here? However, if you live close enough to Dr. Harbison, Zolodex is definitely an option. For those of who fly in from LA.... trying to plan flights exactly on a time schedule for Zolodex would be too tough. > , > > What about using Zoladex? As you know, that is what we used with Max. > I don't want people to think that Lupron is the only medication IF > there are studies including Zoladex and they support it.
